Haven't tried the jam resistance. Probably won't (we did that with the shredder we replaced-it failed.)

Works as Described

I have just plugged in the shredder. First 20 sheets of paper shredded as designed. I like the fact that the a normal paper grocery bag fits the bin. Makes recycling more convenient. Just hard to tell when the bin if full. But way more quiet than my 10 year old unit that finally went belly up.

Solid, but not flawless

This is our second unit. I apparently liked it enough to buy another one, but I was able to 'break' the first unit after a couple of years of use by simply turning it over accidentally. After this incident, the shredding gears would no longer turn and the unit would hum and quickly overheat while trying. It is solid, however, churning through whatever I'd throw at it without incident. My only real gripe with the unit is waste disposal. I do wish the bin were better designed to capture and easily dispose of without spilling any scraps.

Cons: Mess Reduction

One Day Use

I had a lessor model of Fellows before and I jammed it in a big way. As I opened it up to check on why it croaked, I was impressed by the heavy duty gears. The gear that stripped was a plastic one right off the motor drive gear. A lock pin also jumped off one of the cutter shafts. Although I was disappointed (my wife also) the unit jammed to this extent with stopping first, it does show how tough the shredder components are. I am still curious why my older unit died (W11C) and will dissect (do a post op) further. I also felt it was time for a heavier duty unit. The fact I purchased another Fellow shows that I don't fully blame the older unit for the failure. I shredded a bunch of built-up documents just after putting the new unit together and was pleased with the performance: hope it continues.

A great little paper shredder

This is my "third" shredder. The others were not Fellowes shredders. They didn't last very long. I wound up with jammed shredders and two waste baskets. Then by a stroke of luck { I hadn't heard about Fellowes} I purchased this Fellowes shredder. I have a habit of pushing things, but this shredder has withstood me. No matter what, [even if I have to turn it off for a while] it comes back.Is it possible to love a shredder???? Thanks Fellowes for a product that defies me [ and gratefully so] Carol Slotnick
