best shredder for the price

I just got this shredder from my wife today. i use the 79C1 cross cut shredder at work and i kept telling her we should get one for our own personal use. she ordered one and i put it together but the only thing wrong with it that one of the casters was the wrong type , it was a screw on instead of a snap on so it dose not even fit. i am looking on the web site to try to order one but i can not find it on the site. other than that small miner mishap i still recommend this shredder. If anyone knows where i can get the replacement caster pls leave me a comment, thank you

Solid construction, good design and Quiet

This is a very capable shredder. Good solid construction and fairly quiet. It won't allow too much paper to be fed, so that won't become jammed. But as with most shredders it's a messy deal to empty.
Pros: Quality Construction, Jam Resistance, Safety Features, Quiet Operation, Sheet Capacity
Cons: Mess Reduction

Best Shredder I've ever owned!

I couldn't be any happier with my what I call monster shredder. I've had it for a few weeks now and have shredded things my old shredder only dreamed of. I highly recommend this shredder to anyone looking for strong, durable, sleek looking monster shredding.

Mine must be broken

I have used Fellows products for years and years and always been more than happy, until I got the 79ci. This is the worst shredder I have ever owned. - The capacity sensors are based on thickness, so wrinkled single sheets cause the sensor to stop shredding - not torque. It will work fine for one junk mail envelope but not another. I must constantly babysit the work and use the "force shred" option to get the jobs done. I really need to take the thing apart and disable the thickness sensor.

The thickness of the paper and documents can affect the amount of strain put onto the cutting block which in turn determines the performance and longevity of your shredder. While the shredder may be able to power through a thicker stack of documents, this is not an ideal operating circumstance and we do not recommend it. if you think that your machine may need to be recalibrated, please give us a call at (800) 945-4545 so that we are able to walk you through these steps! Great Video to watch for purchase. Taking machine out of box and following instructions well documented. 3 of the 4 wheels struggled to get in all the way, the 4th wheel would not engage the notch fully and sits 1/4 to 1/2 inch higher than the rest of the wheels. When placing basket in, red light came on to indicate it was not fully in place, very helpful.
Pros: Jam Resistance, Safety Features, Sheet Capacity

The casters on our machines can sometimes be difficult to secure. If you are having trouble, we recommend either using the weight of the machine to help push the casters into place or lightly tapping each with a rubber mallet. You will know that each wheel is secure when you hear a "click". Thank you for helping us to enhance the Fellowes shopping experience!

Love this shredder. THEY MUST DO A BETTER JOB WITH THE MANUAL. PUTTING ON THE CASTERS WAS A NIGHT MARE. IT TOOK MORE TIME TO DO THAT THAN ASSEMBLE THE ENTIRE SHREDDER.NEVER HAD PLASTIC BAGS BEFORE DO YOU PUT BAGS INTO BIN?? MANUAL DID NOT SAY SO I DID NOT DO IT. PLEASE REWRITE MANUAL. I HAD TO GO ONLINE AND RESEARCH BAGS AND CASTERS. TAKING WAY TO MUCH TIME TO ASSEMBLE.

If necessary, we sometimes recommend using the weight of a machine to push each wheel into place or tapping each with a rubber mallet. The trick to installing the casters is to hear a "click"; this noise indicates that each is secure.
The bags that came with your machine are to be used inside the waste bin if you desire. This machine can be run with or without the use of these bags.

Good Shreeder

We've only had the shredder a week, but it appears to work as advertised. It slows down a bit when shredding CD's but it does the job well. It's quieter than other shredders we've used.
