Great Product

I use to have a Swingline paper shredder and it broke. My experience with this new one has been really nice.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Safety Features, Jam Resistance, Mess Reduction

Love this Shredder!

This is my second Fellowes shredder. I had the first one for many years before I finally wore it out. With preparing to move to a new house I decided it was time to clear out the filing cabinets. I checked out other shredders and ended up back at Fellowes. I thought that their features, prices and designs were the best. Since I had a lot to shred I did upgrade from my previous shredder to one that could handle a longer run time and more sheets at a time. Since some of my papers were old and wrinkled I was concerned that they might jam as they use to in my old shredder. But not the 79Ci!! It handled them perfectly. It's not to noisy and with the casters it is easily moveable if you need to. The only issue I had was inserting the casters. Even my husband had to use a bit of force to get them in but they definitely won't fall out! This is a great shredder and I expect that it will last for many years.

Cons: casters hard to insert

i love this product and it helped me out with about 100 pounds of paper i needed to shred (no joke), but this product had some downfalls it would overheat because the vents where inside near the baggage area. also it would fill rather quick, and it would be hard to put back in because the runners it went on where difficult to wrangle. but it did its job nicely and quickly and i would recommend this product to other people. the thing i would recommend to the fellows staff would be that they should design a more versatile printer that is able to be moved around and can shred without the need for a basket below. like for instance if i wanted to shred over a trashcan for a quicker more efficient job they should design a shredder that can do that or make a mount for trashcans. i feel that this accurately describes this printer. not many pro's were not mentioned for the star review i gave it but it is a very good printer and it should not be overlooked the next time you want to buy one.

I had a small cheap shredder that fit over my trash can for years and it was great but finally broke recently so I decided to get a slightly more expensive one (not this Fellowes one) thinking it would hold up well but also shred credit cards. I was wrong, it was terrible and broke down after the first week of use even though I didn't put as many sheets through as it stated it would handle (not even close). I finally decided to get this Fellowes model because it stated it was virtually jam proof. I am sure I can figure out a way to jam it, but so far it has worked like a charm and I couldn't be happier with it.

Appears to be an excellent machine. Quiet operation, love the cross cut shredding. Other features are helpful. One wish is that the tub capacity was larger. Pricey.

First Impressions

Since I just got the shredder, these are my first impressions. First thing I noticed was that the shredder head is HEAVY. I consider this a good thing, indicating a strong motor. Another thing I found (as per other reviews) is that the rollers are hard to push into the holes. I found that pressing down while wiggling forward and back and side to side would get them to "clunk" or "click" into place. Assembly was simple, and it is a fine looking machine when finished. The first thing I did after assembly was oil the cutters. There is a small bottle of oil that comes with it and it seems that it will give about 5 or 6 uses before running out. Don't cut the tip off - poke a hole into the tip with a safety pin or something similar. This will keep you from flooding the cutters with too much oil when servicing. Once the cutters were oiled, I ran a few sheets of paper through, and was glad to find the operation smooth and relatively quiet. After that I shredded about half a basket worth of paper with no problems. Time will tell, but I feel confident that as long as I do my part with care and upkeep, it should be more than adequate for my needs.

Powerful Shredder

Our new shredder has been a Godsend. We have already filled three contractor size bags full of old documents. It is compact but packs a powerful punch and is a very quiet shredder. We feel so much more at ease knowing that our personal information is properly shredded and disposed of with our new in home shredder. We really appreciate the safety and power saving features included with this model. Very glad we chose it!
