Sweet Machine

I have purchase several shredders over the last 20 years. Most were inexpensive models that fit over a trash can. I burned most of them out after attempting to shred years of accumulated files. I realize the importance of data security and I decided to buy a new shredder. This model is great! It does exactly what it says it will do. I work on sensitive client files. I destroy draft reports immediately now instead of creating a shred pile in a box. The unit is fast and very quiet. I can almost get away with using it at night!

I am very pleased with my new deskside shredder. makes it really handy to get rid of private papers without making a "trip to the shredder".

Fellowes is by far the best of all paper shredders I have purchased thus far. It is flawless! It shreds everything without effort, without ever jamming and is ultra quiet!
I am very happy with this product and recommend it to anyone looking for a durable and high quality item.

Sooooo much more quiet than my last shredder!! Smooth operation. Love the "safe sense" feature. My old machine always made me secretly fear I might shred my fingers if I didn't pay attention. :) The bin is easy to empty. It just slides out and slides back in. My old shredder required I lift off the heavy top and inevitably spill shreddings attached to the blade all over the floor. If all that isn't enough, it's handsome too. Matches the rest of my desk appliances.

poor security

Only giving 2 stars to Overall Rating due to the poor security due to the size of the shreds of paper.
Very poor security for this shredder. If you have paper printed in landscape mode, you can have an "entire" Tax I.D. number, etc. on a piece of shredded paper. The strips are too long. The purpose of shredding is to destroy any information on a piece of paper and this shredder does not do it.
It is sturdy, handles lots of paper and is fast. Like the fact it will stop if taking too much paper.
However, after 2 months, I am already looking for another shredder due to the poor security of the shredded pages.

Cons: Secure Cut Size
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

my 3rd shredder

The 79Ci seems to be a real performer! It can handle multiple sheets and envelopes, discs, and credit cards – yes, I chewed up a disc and one of my wife's credit cards (she’ll never miss it) just to see if it would take ‘em! I’ve deliberately overloaded it too but, unlike my previous shredders this dandy doesn’t overheat and smoke, it very politely stops, reverses a tad, and lets me take out the jam without triggering my Tourette’s!
The only issues I’ve encountered are related to the bin. First, the shreds triggers a ‘full bag’ indicator long before the bag is actually full - to correct that I have to open the bin and compact the shreds by hand. Secondly, when I push the bin back in place it doesn’t always seat properly which keeps the machine from running. These are both minor annoyances and don’t cancel out the joy of buzzing my junk mail out of existence! I can’t wait to see what it’ll do to my taxes!
