Does the Job

Have used product for two days and only experienced one paper jam, which I was able to clear up quickly. While not silent, it's a lot quieter than the previous shredder I owned. Works as advertised and appears to be a reliable shredder that will offer years of service.
Comes with a small vial of lubricant, which is a nice touch. Instructions should inform user to wipe excess lubricant from inside waste bin after applying.
Bin fills up quickly. Fellowes includes three, clear recyclable bags to put shredded paper, which is useful. However, the supplied bags are not thick and sturdy, and I had to apply tape on a small tear on one bag after transferring the waste paper. Be sure to use a recyclable bag that is large enough to fit over the waste bin to prevent shredded paper from falling to the floor when emptying the bin.
Have not tried shredding credit cards or CDs/DVDs. Will try that later. The 79Ci has had no problems dealing with small staples.

Best replacement ever

This was a replacement from another brand of paper shredder...I had purchased a Swingline model and it was always overheating and jamming until one day it stop working.....which I only had for 4 months....I was surprised by Swingline as I read from Consumer Reports as being good quality...so I checked other reviews of other brands and went to several retail stores to compare prices and qualities. Fellowes Heavy Duty paper shredder gave me all amenities I wanted....would recommend with my eyes closed to anyone.

This shredder is great. Does everything it says. Well built. No complaints at all and worth the extra money. I haven't owed this shredder long so I can't attest to how long it will last. Hopefully a long time.

We have had several shredders over the years and eventually they go bye bye. This new Fellows is terrific. Lots of features. Looking forward to having this one for a long, long time. Used in home/office setting and gets a lot of use.

Not As Good as Old one

Just got the 79i as they quit making the SC 87. Sc 87 worked flawlessly for 6 years - - guess that's why they discontinued it. Just too good. So closest replacement was this 79i plastic thing.
Pros: Quiet Operation
Cons: Mess Reduction, Safety Features, Quality Construction

I have had two shredders .One was a Crocodile that lasted 25 yrs. Company went out of business Next a different model lasted 5 yrs. went to buy another one same as before ,returned it after three weeks .Decided on a Fellows 79Ci, Nice and sturdy,Quiet, Safety. All though I have had it only a few days this seems like a winner. This is for my personal use but still I want one that functions well. So many of them are just junk. Glad I found Fellows a friend has used your shredders for years .And recommended it to me.

Great Purchase

This is the third shredder that we have had in our home, and by far it is the best. I am very impressed with the quiet operation of the unit. It does a Pacmanlike job when it is gobbling up the papers we don't want to share with others. The residue left after shredding is very secure in my opinion. I have shreded up to 5 sheets at one time. The machine handled it well and didn't skip a beat. The unit itself is very lightweight and easy to move around on its rollers. Although I bought this shredder for home use, I believe it would work well in a small business environment.
