This shredder has met all my expectation and more. Its efficiency and low noise level when in operation is excellent and a pleasure to use. The design of the cabinet and the paper feed shows that your engineering and design department is "on-the-ball." I am certain that it will give many years of trouble free service. RHB

Worth The Money

Great product for doing everyday or occassional shredding. Design is very nice, but the pullout holding bin could be larger. If you do a large amount of shredding there will be lots of emptying. This product was decent in price, but from past experience the product holds up very well, so the money will be well worth it. Hope it lasts as long as my last shredder, a Boston strip shredder almost 10 years old. The Name, styling, features, operation & warranty are all GREAT attributes of this product. WORTH THE MONEY FOR SURE.
I'm very impressed with this shredder so far. First it is so quiet! I can carry on a conversation, watch tv or listen to the radio with out turning up the volume and I don't disturb the whole house while I'm using it. I really like the anit-jam feature. It literally clears the jams it's self about 99.9% of the time and the and the one or two jams I cleared (after 3 kitchen size garbage bags) was just a flip of the switch. I didn't have to pull the top and pull jammed paper out of the blades. The sensor on how many sheets i put in was a bit touchy. Unless the sheets were perfectly flat it took more like 10-12 sheet and sometimes miss-read even less if there were folds, etc. But that was minor. As long as it lasts longer than my last Fellowes shredder which quit working after 6 months this is a winner. But this was a replacement for that shredder under the warrenty and it was a breeze to get replaced as well. Which is why I stayed with Fellowes. I also like that it has wheels, I can move it to my dad's office and let him use it with ease.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Warranty, Service Guarantee, Jam Resistance
Cons: none

Excellent Shredder

I just used my Fellowes shredder for the first time today. I was not disappointed in the total experience with it. I used it for over an hour and had no problems whatsoever other than I filled the basket two or three times.
I am very well-pleased with my purchase. I had lost my other shredder in the flood and needed a new one -- I am so happy that I decided to go with this particular model and brand!
I needed a new shredder that didn't require me to waste time opening all junk mail, tearing off the sensitive info, and running those small pieces through a cheap 4-page shredder a few at a time. Further, that shredder needed me to spend more time pulling paper bits out of the shredding mechanism every time I emptied the bin.
I looked at a number of in-depth reviews on this machine, and all gave it glowing remarks - with good reason! I've only had it a few days, but it does gobble up the advertized amount of paper, and I've found that I can shred many junk mail items without even opening the envelope - I just run the whole thing right through. As strong as it is, it's incredibly quiet - even more so than I had imagined from web videos I'd seen.
Don't worry about complaints of the bin being difficult to close that you might read online. There is a catch near the bottom back of the enclosure that I suppose is designed to keep the bin from jostling out during operation. When you slide the bin back into the unit, that catch is what is making it difficult to get the bin all the way back in and engage the safety switch. When you hit that stop, if you just tip the top of the bin out a bit, that lifts the bottom back edge of the bin over the catch, the bin then slides right into place, and you'll hear the little safety switch engage.
Also, don't worry about complaints of not having instructions on how to oil the mechanism. The instructions I received with the shredder show exactly what to do on page 4.
And finally, I've seen no problems with mess, as long as I don't let the bin overfill. I'm not bothering with bin liners - just dumping the bin into a trash bag with other trash or recyclables, depending on what I've shredded. All of the shredded particles seem to fall into the bin. Caveat - I've not shredded a CD yet, and I expect those could get a bit more messy.
Thanks, Fellowes! I'm looking forward to years of much more efficient shredding - and no more dread of the shred!

The only feature I found to not be great is putting the waste container back into the machine, it has to be "lifted" from the bottom, it doesn't just slide in like my others did.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Sheet Capacity, Warranty, Jam Resistance
Cons: Quality Construction

First impressions are good

Bought the 79Ci shredder to replace a smaller competitor's model. Many of the items we should probably have shredded in the past weren't because it would have been too time-consuming and ineffective.
First impressions are good; quiet and powerful, easy to assemble and operate, looks good, and safety and anti-jam features are as advertised.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Safety Features, Jam Resistance, Mess Reduction, thanks. appreciate it is as advertised.
