Can't Be Beat

I never make a purchase without doing research. This one totally lives up to it's reputation. Can't say that about alot of things these days. I've already recommended it to two others.

Compact, attractive, quiet and totally enclosed. Fits-in with a small office or den. Bin is easy to empty. Safety features provide a "pause" until the shredder can "read" the number of pages introduced. Some may find that this feature results in "slowing" the shredding process "down" coupled with the "hand-position" location sensor. Others may find that these same features are an added precaution and important to have with children in the home.

Reliable Fellowes

I purchased a new Fellowes shredder, because the older Fellowes model that served me well over the past 10+ years needed retiring. I never considered another brand other than Fellowes, because not only did I have a reliable home shredder, but also at various financial offices I've worked in used Fellowes shredders. Their reliability and durability for home and small businesses is unsurpassed as far as I'm concerned. I would definitely recommend Fellowes and this particular model, PS-79Ci, for home or small office use. I researched various Fellowes shredder models, and the PS-79Ci came out on top. One important note that most users ignore is oil the machine as often as directed—this shredder will last a long time if the simple maintenance procedures are followed.

Great Purchase

It works fantastic. I like all the safety features. I also like that it shreds credit cards and cds.
The use time and cool down time are the best I've seen. We have used several different shredders at work and this one has turned out to be the best yet, which is why I purchased one for home.

The subject shredder is a large capacity model that I use daily in my home for personal use. It is rated to shred staples, credit cards and CDs. I have shredded CDs, but not staples. So far during my limited use I have not had any jams and the operation is quiet and smooth. The package came with a container of oil and a supply of plastic bags for the waste. Fellows seems to have a good reputation for dependability and warrenty.

Better than expected

Quiet and efficient, with lots of nice features. Don't know yet about durability, but if it's like my old Fellowes shredder that won't be a problem. Only con - there should be a better way to keep the bag in place.

Underwhelmed?

Not sure what all of the praise is about. It is quiet. It seems powerful. It does shred.
On the other hand, it's incredibly messy. It is impossible to empty the bin without spilling shreds on the floor. The bin regularly dislodges, causing it to stop working (a safety feature) until you realign the bin. The full bin sensor is so sensitive it registers a full bin when the bin is only half full-- meaning you have to pull the bin out, spill some shreds, and pat down the trash in order to keep shredding. You have to shred something reasonably thick in order to activate the shredder, for example I cannot shred a single receipt or single sheet of paper-- just too flimsy to activate the shredder. Generally I have to shred at least 3 sheets at a time, and receipts must be fed in with something more substantial.
The safety feature that shuts the machine off if your hands touch it is more annoying than useful. I keep tweezers next to the machine to defeat this safeguard.
