Best Shredder I have ever had

This is number 4 and the only one that has been trouble free. I had gotten so tired of all the same problems with the other shredders. The 79C has none of them. I love the dial and other warning features. You will be very happy if you purchase this one, you will love the basket with the "plastic" bag, makes emptying so much easier and cleaner. The wheels are wonderful too as I am a little tight for room and I have to move it to access some of my desk drawers. Before I had to carry it away, now I roll it a foot or so away an d then right back.

Surprise purchase

I bought for my daughter to replace a shredder that had burned out. What a surprise when we got the new shredder home and used it. Powerful, quiet, efficient and perfect. A great product, and I'm jealous I don't have one at my home.

Best Shredder I ever had

The operation is very quiet and smooth. I would buy the same machine again.

Excellent Product

I am very pleased with the overall quality, ease of operation and quiet operation. I have found one very minor irritant. It is hard to start feeding small, fine paper such as credit card receipts, cash register receipts, etc.

I upgraded to this machine after years of using a very small, single-sheet shredder. I could have shopped more carefully. This machine is at much larger and very heavy. Operation is quiet, but there is a loud hum whenever the machine is turned on. It does make small bits very efficiently. My main irritation is the mess. Shredded paper bits miss the waste basket and cling to the bottom and sides of the inner compartment so that taking out the waste basket involves picking up many tiny bits of paper that fall to the floor. Since I take the shredded paper to the compost often, this is a real inconvenience.

Cons: Mess Reduction, Quiet Operation

It is possible the cutters may need to be cleaned of paper particles, which can sometimes occur during periods of heavy use. Cleaning out of cutters is necessary to maintain optimum performance and cut quality. This can be done simply by cycling the cutters from reverse to forward to reverse a few times.

I find my PS-78Ci one of the best purchases I have made for my busy office. I am in the School environment and handle a lot of very coincidental teacher/student information, I needed a fast dependable shredder and have found it! I will recommend this machine to my co-workers and friends. Also plan on purchasing one for my home.

good shredder but. . .

The paper bin has an indented viewing window that makes it totally impractical to use a plastic bag. Pulling a stuffed bag out creates a total mess. A bin with no catches in it to tear the bag as you're pulling it out would make it a great shredder instead of a good one.

Great product!

I had been using a very basic shredder for many years that just created strips. I was looking for a shredder that would do more than 6 sheets at a time and would cross cut. I love the safety feature and jam resistance that comes with this shredder as well as its size (not a much larger footprint than my old shredder). The casters are another nice feature. Thanks, Fellowes!
