Awesome Shredder PS-79Ci
on February 22, 2010
Posted by: Sunny
There is nothing you can tell me about Fellowes products. I have been happy with everything I have purchased over the last several years. We used a Fellowes shredder at work, and when I retired, I purchased one of my own. We never had a moment's problem with the one at work, and I knew I would be happy with my own. I recently cleaned out all my old files and filled several large bags of old bills, letters, etc., and my shredder handled it just like a more larger or expensive machine. I love this shredder, and by the way, it shreds old credit cards and disks with no problem.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Sheet Capacity, Quality Construction, Warranty, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, Service Guarantee, Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Jam Resistance, Mess Reduction, safety feature an added plus, the casters
Cons: none

The machine works flawlessly. It can handle multiple pages easily and credit cards without skipping a beat. But it's best feature is the secure feeling I get when I use it.
Nicely done!!!!
Pros: Quality Construction, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, secure feeling in me
Cons: i should have bought it sooner.

PS-79Ci Shredder
on February 22, 2010

Great shredder for the price. So far the once or twice I have jammed it was very easy to unjam using the reverse switch. The cross-cut shredding makes it impossible to reassemble anything that was shredded.
The trash liners are very easy to remove and replace without spilling any shreddings that would have to be cleaned up later.
This shredder is nothing but first class all the way.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Sheet Capacity, Quality Construction, Warranty, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, Service Guarantee, Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Jam Resistance, Mess Reduction
Cons: no negatives so far

the "tank" of shredders
on February 22, 2010

This machine is built like a tank! I couldn't believe how sturdy and well made this shredder is. After buying and throwing out other less expensive shredders that either jammed up or burned out, I decided to spend a little more and get this Fellowes machine. The convenience and time savings alone of being able to shred 13 sheets at one time is worth the price. It also has "safesense" feature that prevents you from getting your fingers near the opening. Add led lights that tell you how many sheets you can load, jamproof technology, a large easy to remove basket and smooth, quiet operation, and a great warranty, and you've got the BEST shredder for the money out there.
Pros: value
Cons: none

Best shredder that I have own
on February 22, 2010

So far is has worked great. Once it worked through the jam it backed it self up and then went forward. We have a 17 month old daughter and we bought this one because it shuts off and so I put my hand by it and the light went on and it wouldn't shredd. The real test will see how long it last because the other shredders didn't even last a year. We have gone through several shredders. I also like this one because so far like the others it has heated up and stopped on me and then I have to wait about an hour for the others shredders I have had to work again. Another thing I like is it is so quiet when you use it not loud like the other shredders I have used.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Sheet Capacity, Quality Construction, Warranty, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, Service Guarantee, Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Jam Resistance, Mess Reduction

Shredding with Style and Grace
on February 22, 2010

Never owned a paper shredder nor used one before. Always tore up private papers by hand. Would take 2 or 3 hours to destroy old tax-related papers every year to make room for the new ones.
Thought I'd buy a cheap shredder, but when I went online and read reviews, it became clear that cheap shredders jam and/or overheat. So, I decided to buy a good one. The Fellowes PS-79Ci is reviewed very favorably by a large number of customers, so I bought it.
The day my new Fellowes shredder arrived, it quickly turned old bank and broker statements along with other papers into bits of confetti that could never be reassembled. Unfortunately, there was no parade onto which I could throw the stuff from a high floor and get away with it.
The Fellowes never jammed--just reversed itself automatically on the few occasions I tried to stuff too many pages into it. The finger-sensing area around the paper slot prevents any chance of injury. A series of lights shows how close a group of pages nears feeding capacity. That feature made it easy for me to develop a feel for the thickness of pages that could be fed into the shredder at one time. There's another indicator light showing when the bin is full.
I expected any paper shredder to be noisy, but this one just purrs. It's very quiet for a machine that voraciously eats as many pages as quickly as the Fellowes does.
One critical comment is that a compact stack of flat pages turns into a much larger pile of tiny pieces, buoyant with air--like popcorn except that it fills from the top down instead of the bottom up. So, prepare to empty the bin frequently and vacuum up a mess after transferring confetti from the bin to a trash bag if you don't dump the clippings into a very large container. I didn't bother using a plastic bag in the bin which might have been cleaner.
Too bad I don't have more items to shred. Maybe I'll knock on some neighbors' doors and volunteer to shred for them because it's so much fun to use the new shredder. To be serious, the PS-79Ci is a fine product that does what it was designed to do: It shreds papers quickly, quietly, effortlessly, and with style and grace.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Sheet Capacity, Quality Construction, Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Jam Resistance, fun to use--no kidding!
Cons: Mess Reduction
