Fellows 79i Shredder

We purchased a Fellows PS79Ci shredder on March 4, 2009 (9 1/2 years ago). It has worked like a charm, shredding everything. After 9 1/2 years, the motor was working as good as new, but the on/off switch started to wear out. It finally would not turn on. Gotta do something about those switches. We ordered our new 79Ci today.
Pros: Jam Resistance, Mess Reduction, Quality Construction, Quiet Operation, Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Service Guarantee, Sheet Capacity, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, Warranty

Don't Buy 79Ci

Because is not a micro-shredder, the volume produced when shredding is huge.
But capacity of bin is too small, so you end up having to hand-compact the shredded product and to empty the bin too often.
And emptying the bin is very messy, so prepare to vacuum and clean after.
If you have very little to shred, it can be ok, otherwise, don't buy it. I regret being convinced by sales person that it is a great shredder, and regret and hate not being able to return it because did not used it within the 15 days allowed

Finally, a great shredder with good capacity

I have tried multiple shredders with no success.. This shredder has good capacity and able to do cards, paper clips c/d/rom disks etc. i seldom have had to stop for a cool down period. Easy to empty. Very happy.

Made like they used to

Quiet, strong, sturdy. I haven't had it that long but purchased it because my father had one just like it. I'd used it at his home to do a LOT of shredding and it worked so well. He's had it for 2 years and has had no problem with it. This is the 3rd shredder I've had in 3 years and I feel confident it will last a very long time. I have recommended it to friends. The previous brands I had were not Fellowes.

best shredder ever used

I have had many shredders in the past 5 years. All of them have been dead and thrown away when they get replaced.
I intentionally tried to find a shredder that can handle me versus me dealing with it's shortcomings.
I have had the PS-79Ci around a month now. I love it. I do not have to alter my life to put up with it. I don't feel like I have to tolerate it. It is easy enough, works well enough consistently enough, is jam free and is not a bother to have in my life. That is a blessing. Nobody needs added aggravation from a piece of equipment. This machine is truly the best I have ever used, and or owned.

Cross-Cut Shredder

I upgraded from a strip shredder to the cross-cut. Does a better job with privacy and security. I like how quiet this shredder is and also what a great job it does in shredding documents into tiny pieces. My only complaint is that it is difficult to shred small cash register receipts. It is difficult to feed them into the shredder.

Great Shredder

The 79ci is a terrific shredder and quiet enough to use while watching TV (with the volume up just a little than usual).
The only difficulty so far was getting the casters into the bottom. Had to hit them in with the bottom of my tennis shoe.
