Still have concerns

Received my R50 a month ago and although it’s fun to play and portable, I still have concerns that have not been addressed by Garmin. I have set it up next to a trackman on several occasions and everything looks good until getting to the longer clubs which are consistently short by 15-30 yards. The Garmin rep stated “well trackman is a superior product” the numbers should be at least relatively close for a 5,000 dollar product. I was told I would be emailed information to trouble shoot but have never received an email. I’m sure I’ve missed my window for return at this point so just hoping they send out a software update that addresses the problem.

Definitely will help my game!

Very happy with the product, but the distance on all the clubs are not accurate. I’m hitting my driver and it only goes 210 yards. I easily hit my driver 250 plus. My pitching wedge I hit 120 and I barely get 100 yards. I went into settings and made adjustments to humidity and elevation that was recommended for indoor use but it didn’t change anything. But all and all I love it.

I've been practicing and playing on the R50 for a few weeks, and what a treat! It's incredibly portable and captures all of the data you might get when you go to a club fitting. Most average golfers, of which I'm one, probably don't get a chance to hit every club multiple times on a monitor, so they can get a good idea of how far they TRULY hit each club. Most base it on that one time we flushed it, so we come up consistently short of our targets because we have an unrealistic idea of how far we hit our clubs. My goal is to be able to make better club decisions on the course this year, and the R50 will help me to do that. I'm using it indoors now but will be incorporating it into my range sessions when the outdoor season arrives. The screen is good size and quite bright. If you are on the fence about purchasing a very good launch monitor, the Aprroach R50 might make you pull the trigger. I did and I'm extremely happy!

I have found on the longer clubs the distance is off between 10%-20%.

Great out of the gate!

Still very new to market but so far my experience has been great. Professional feel, as accurate as the industry benchmark BLP and very easy set up to GSPro and other 3rd party software.

Figuring How to Use the Features

I have had the R50 totally installed with my simulator for about a week and it seems to be a very features oriented device. I am not a "tech guy" so I have had some difficulty figuring out how to use it properly and have not been able to locate a tutorial. I think it is going to be great once I become proficient with its use.

Great Potential unrealized

I bought this device for competitive juniors so they can practice at home without using the Wifi connection. I do not like having Wifi connection for extended periods of time. As such this is an all-in one device I thought I could minimize that. But later realized that is true only to a point. The provided driving range options could be vastly improved as it is not gamified enough to hold attention of juniors (the range is not junior friendly). Awesome golf works but it requires gaming laptop or mobile device and a wifi and wifi hotspot. So it defeats my original purpose of eliminating Wifi. Not sure why as there is a USB connection but it is only there for software updates not to transfer data from simulator to Awesome golf. I think this is short sighted. This is huge disappointment for me. Also, all the courses provided look exactly the same. Almost all local courses in phoenix are either not properly represented or do not have junior tees. So kids are being forced to play 400-500 yards, which is not fun. Furthermore, the software glitches (I have quite a few examples and videos). All in all it is great concept, but when you contrast value to price, it comes short.
