I love my sleep monitor (and all of my Garmin devices) however I do not love the app! I’ve used it for a month or so, and as of last night the app stopped communicating with my monitor. I had to complete the pairing process again which deleted all of my sleep data. I had no other option. The sleep monitor does not have a screen so it is useless without the app.
When able to sync, the data is accurate and the device is much more comfortable than the watch. However, the device routinely fails to sync and loses sleep data. This happens at least twice a month and is incredibly frustrating. There seems to be no way to sync the device without re-pairing it as new and losing the data whenever this happens.
I have been using the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor for several weeks now, and it has genuinely transformed how I approach my nightly rest. As someone who has always been curious about the quality of my sleep, I find this device to be an incredibly insightful tool. The setup process was seamless, and the arm band is remarkably lightweight and comfortable to wear, even for someone who typically avoids accessories while sleeping.
The standout feature for me is the blood oximetry tracking. Having the ability to monitor my SpO2 levels throughout the night provides a level of detail I previously couldn't access without specialized equipment. Seeing this data reflected in the Garmin Connect app alongside my sleep stages has helped me identify patterns between my daily activity levels and my recovery quality. It feels empowering to have such precise health metrics available at my fingertips each morning.
The battery life is equally impressive, rarely needing a charge, and the data synchronization is quick and reliable. Since incorporating the Index Sleep Monitor into my routine, I have become much more proactive about optimizing my sleep hygiene. If you are a Garmin ecosystem user looking to take a deeper dive into your physiological data, I cannot recommend this device enough. It is a fantastic investment for anyone serious about improving their overall wellness and recovery.
It's very inconsistent and never gets a good reading. Especially for side sleepers. I've been using it for 4 months and it's always all over the place even when switching inside or outside of the arm. This would be much better on the wrist.
Least favorite Garmin product I've owned. I've had maybe 7 Garmin products through the years, and this is the worst. Battery life is about 7 nights, much worse than a Fenix which is odd considering it's about the same size. Syncing is horrible, it only works most nights, and to control the alarm, it has to re-sync on every page of the alarm menu. Simply turning on an alarm for tomorrow can easily take 30 second or more. When it dies the job, it's fine, but it's not reliable enough.
I use it reluctantly so I can take my watch off at night and still keep data, but it's hard to recommend this.
The only complaint I have is the sleep monitor makes a mark on my arm overnight and was a little uncomfortable. I did order the larger band to be safe. Regardless of how I adjust it it does put a pressure mark on my arm so I look forward to taking it off in the morning.
