After putting this shredder through some pretty intense usage I am impressed with its performance! When I first received the shredder I was a little worried about the size of the collection bin and was prepared to empty frequently based on using similar capacity shredders in the past. However I was pleasantly surprised as this shredder just kept shredding and shredding before requiring the bin to be emptied. That is a big plus for me! I didn't experience any jams when shredding the recommended quantity of sheets. Even when I went a little over the recommended quantity I didn't experience jams but just a little slower performance (though that is to be expected) as I was trying to push the limit to see if it would jam. The motor seems very strong and durable and is about as loud as any comparable product on the market but shredders typically aren't quiet anyways. The only issue that I experienced was having to put smaller items to shred in the center of the feeder to get it to start. I put issue in parenthesis because this really isn't an issue it's more of a preference of being able to place an item anywhere in the feeder to start. I would not hesitate to purchase a Staples brand shredder based on my experience. Overall it is a quality product and is comparable to any similar capacity shredder on the market and should be seriously considered!

As a small home-based business owner I had a perfect opportunity to test this shredder for both business and personal use. After two weeks I discovered that it's more suited for personal use in homes that don't require much shredding beyond pre-approved credit card applications and an occasional expired credit/debit card. With its small footprint the shredder doesn't take up much room making it easy to find a space to put it. As with shredders this size it doesn't have a convenient pull-out drawer with a small window to show when it's full. Emptying this shredder requires removing the top that contains the motor and blades placing it somewhere on the floor or on a table and dumping out the shreds in the container below. The top unit is deceptively heavy and doesn't have recessed handles so be sure to have a good grip and keep your feet clear when removing it in case you drop it. It's definitely not built for small hands. Operation is easy; I didn't even need the instruction manual to figure out how to use it. For a small unit it shreds quickly although it does tend to slow down considerably when shredding more than 3 sheets. It's also unnecessarily loud. My heavy-duty business shredder is much quieter. The paper shreds are small enough to offer more security than shredders that use to cut paper into strips but not as small as those produced by other shredders of the same size. I shredded regular printer paper cardstock and a few old plastic membership cards. This little unit handled them all easily with no noticeable straining. Overall I'd recommend this shredder for occasional home use.

This shredder is great it eats my paper fast and is so much quieter than my old one. No more paper jams it seems to be able to handle several weights of paper well.

Works fine and would be great for the average family who mainly uses it to shred mail and bills. I work from home and use a heavy duty Fedders shredder I bought from Staples several years ago. I often shred thick documents and you can use it longer before letting it rest. Once again for family mails and bills this would work quite well

I've used this shredder for about two weeks now putting it through the motions to make sure it works well and indeed it does. It cuts well and does not slow down much when the maximum pages are inserted. Looks great so far and hopefully this model will address any drawbacks the prior model had. Time will of course tell and Staples stands behind their products so I am not that concerned.

The 8-sheet shredder worked just as expected. I tried it using multiple layers of paper up to eight and they all worked well! I like that the shredder does the job quickly and efficiently.

The Staples 8-sheet shredder is almost perfect. There are many positives with this products. It cuts paper and credit cards efficiently in a cross cut pattern. It automatically starts cutting as soon as I feed it through the slot and I don’t have to worry about it not being shredded enough. There are a one negatives that are not dealbreakers but could make the shredder more enjoyable to use. First is that it is very heavy. The handles are attached to the top shredder portion so if I need to transport or move the shredder around my office I can’t hold it from the handles otherwise I could accidentally knock it over and all the paper could fall out. Overall I’m satisfied with this shredder but I just have to be carefully when moving this.

The Staples 8-sheet shredder performed excellent during our initial use period. The initial set-up was quick and simple using the included Operators Manual. The shredder performed as expected for an 8-sheet cross cut shredder. Feeding 1-4 letter sized pieces of paper into the shredder at a time it shreds them quickly and with little noise. Feeding 4-8 letter size pieces of paper into the shredder at once slows down the shredder a bit but it still shreds them quickly and into small cross cut pieces. The shredder turns whatever is fed into it in to hundreds of 3/16 x 1 1/4 pieces that makes it very secure to use for sensitive documents. Documents with staples attached to them were also shredded with ease and quickly. I would recommend the Staples 8-Sheet Shredder for home or small business use.
