Tends to overheat and can only shred for 7 minutes straight before it turns off for 30 minutes. Also lots of the shredded paper gets caught in the metal shredding spikes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Staples 12 Sheet Cross Cut Shredder is a decent shredder for the home. It is a good size for a small home office area. It completely shreds up to 12 sheets at a time with ease. The bin is a good size for infrequent use and is easy to dump. It isn't very loud at all. The downside is that it can only run for about 7 minutes and then needs a 30 minute cool down. I found this to be a bit of a nuisance as I tend to let paperwork build up a little before I shred it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s the perfect size. Fits underneath my desk nicely doesn’t take up a lot of space. It’s not too loud that it’s distracting. Shreds nicely eats the paper pretty smoothly. The bin size is a good size perfect for at-home use.
Crisis cross cut is a good quality that easily destroy any documents

Staples Shredder review

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I appreciated the simplicity of this product. We have had a shredder for years and I’ve always felt it had too many bells and whistles for its own good. This shredder does shredding very well. I appreciate the bin size too. It is very easy collect the shredder paper for disposal and it’s large capacity meant I didn’t have to empty it as frequently. Our last shredder’s bin was too small and was much more prone to messes. We kept the shredder in our small office area and it did not take up too much space. Noise-wise it was on par with other shredders I’ve used previously but it was not terribly noisy. I feel the shredding module is somewhat heavy and may be prone to tipping over if bumped but I never had that issue myself. All in all this is a really nice shredder and I look forward to using it more in the future.

Efficient Shredder

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I was impressed with this shredder. I was able to shred 5 pieces of paper at one time both folded and unfolded. I was able to constantly shred for at least 6 minutes without having to pause because it needed to cool down. The shred size was decent. However you could still read words that were shredded. If I were to be picky I would say the shred size could be smaller so that words could not be read but for my purposes the current shred size was fine for my needs. As far as the bin capacity after 3 1/2 minutes of constantly shredding I had to pause briefly to empty the bin. While this was a minor inconvenience I wouldn’t want the bin to be bigger as that would make the shredder bigger as well. So the bin capacity was a good size. The shredder is kept in our small office area with other office supplies. I love how easy it is to use. I simply put the top on which is relatively heavy; plug it in; turn it on and start shredding. While the shredder is somewhat noisy since it is only used for small moments at a time it’s not too much of a bother for me.
So far so good since I haven’t owned this type of shredder before. It’s smaller & quieter than our old one but it also had a life span of 25 years so keeping my fingers crossed.
Shredded paper accumulates and when this happens everything gets stuck. Very annoying! I now find myself stopping and cleaning the blades to avoid this. Not sure if I will return for a different one. What I do like is the compact size of the shredder.
