Is this safe to use? I bought this a month ago and noticed a lot of residues came out at the bottom of the boiler.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you so much for bringing your concerns to our attention. We want you to know that we take the safety of our products very seriously and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.
We carefully select and test all of the materials used in our products to ensure that they are completely safe for use with food and beverages. However, we do understand that minerals from the water can accumulate on the surface of the inner liner over time. That's why we recommend descaling the water boiler every 1 to 3 months. The frequency of descaling depends on the mineral content of the water being used.
Please keep in mind that the water boiler will not add or produce any residues of its own. Since water naturally contains minerals, they can accumulate over time. If you use a charcoal filter to filter your water, some charcoal specks may also be present in the water.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at any time. Our customer service team is always here to help you out. You can find all of our contact information at https://www.zojirushi.com/app/customer_service/entry
Love this item. Had an old Zojirushi water pot that faithfully worked for about 10 years before finally dying. The current top-of-the-line model boils so much faster (<30min), with less steam, less noise, and lower electricity cost. Large capacity also means fewer refills necessary. I do miss the magnetic plugs from before, but in fairness those did get knocked off accidentally a lot. Just all-around a super solid buy for any hot beverage aficionado. Hope to get another decade of use out of this pot.
This boiler is fantastic. I never thought I would use one, but once I started drinking more green teas, I’m very glad I decided to get this. I keep it at 175 degrees mainly for Sencha and Matcha. When I want boiling water for Hojicha and Genmaicha, the 175-degree water reaches boiling in about 20 seconds in my electric kettle. This saves a bunch of time for me, especially between meetings.
The timer function is also very convenient. I set it up every night so that it is ready to go with hot water in the morning.
The build quality is also very nice. You can tell it was made with pride and with the intention of a very long service life. No corners were cut here.
I am very glad I decided to get this boiler. I would honestly recommend it to anyone who wants hot water ready to go at the push of a button.
I replace an electric kettle with this water boiler. Wow. It is so much better. I use this for pour over coffee, tea, broth soups, oatmeal and more. I love the different temperature settings and the options, plus the 4 liter capacity makes it useful all day.
