More bark than soil

I bought a huge bag and mostly bark. It's not the Miracle-Gro I bought in the past. My friends & I all have noticed a change in this product. I've gone out and bought another bag but this time a cheaper bag & my vegetables are doing better in their pots in the cheaper brand soil. Pamela

Very Poor Quality for the Price

Advertised as garden soil, but it has tree bark and a lot of other non-soil fillers in it. Very poor quality soil for the price that you pay.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

While small pieces of bark and twigs are intentional components of our growing media including potting soil, garden soil, lawn soil, and topsoil, you should not find large pieces of wood or bark. Most of our soils especially potting mixes and garden soils are made of composted forest products and contain very little if any actual soil. Composted forest products provide high organic content and nutrients without the concern for soil compaction. The coarser material allows for air to reach the roots of the plant which improves plant performance.

Give Power to your planting!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow! Was I surprised when this arrived at my door. I could not carry it myself. Expected a much smaller bag. I don't plant a lot of vegetables but I do plant a lot of herbs and the POW! that using this product has given to them is amazing. They have taken better, grown faster and bigger. I sort of cheated and use the rest in my flower pots and am pleased to say my flowers have also profited.
I am sure that if used in a vegetable garden it would help produce healthier and bigger plants and vegetables. Thank you for letting me try this product.

Terrible Terrible Soil

I bought 8 bags of the vegetable and herb soil. I have always used miracle grow products. I am so highly disappointed in this particular product. Never have I had so many tiny clover type weeds coming up in the garden, that I am constantly raking out. It actually looks like ground cover. So very disgusted. Will not purchase again!
Cons: full of weedssparkle

Beautiful Black Soil

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very Please with the Miracle Gro Vegetables & Herb Garden Soil. It is Beautiful Black Soil, Plants Started Quickly. I know it is Garden Soil but I also used it in pots and it worked Beautifully. The only small problem I had was it has some sticks and stones in it that I had to remove, but not bad enough for me to not purchase it.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality, beautiful black dirt
Cons: had some sticks and stones in it

DO NOT BUY

I wish I could give ZERO stars. My review starts last year, I had filled my entire raised garden with this soil, and I was surprised when I spread it I cut my hands open because the soil was loaded with broken glass and sharp bits of plastic. I notified Miracle Gro and provided them pictures of items I had found mixed in the soil. I was offered a refund, and assured that Miracle Gro would rectify this issue. fast forward to this year, I decided its been a year I will try them again and low and behold nothing has changed I have purchased several bags from several different retailers and still the same garbage, broken glass, bits of plastic, shredded plastic bags, and other kinds of trash not fit to grow vegetables in... my entire garden is contaminated and I have to have the entire thing find a way to dispose all of all your soil and replace it with clean soil.
Pros: none
Cons: Difficult to use, full of sharp plastic and glass

Tomato plants started great

Plants put blooms on quick and plant looked good. Plant stopped growing after 2 weeks. Still has not started growing.
Really disappointed.

Best garden soil ever!

The texture and moistness of the soil surpassed any I've ever used before. My tomato plants are looking so healthy and strong. This is quite a feat considering we live in the ever-changing weather conditions of Chicago.
