BOX LIDS THAT BREAK WITH AGE

My ten year old file boxes with hinged lids are not aging well the semi clear lids begin to disintegrate. Can I buy lids to replace them?

Unfortunately, lids cannot be replaced or purchased separately, as products are manufactured and sold as a unit to retailers.

lids shrink! very weird

Why do the lids shrink in size? very odd. I suppose if I had kept them connected to the bins, it would not happen, but I have 3 letter bins, and the tops almost fit, but the last corner won't snap in! clearly, they shrunk! I tried to soak in water to see if that helped, but no luck

DECEPTIVE SIZING

While this says it is 18-1/2" long, this is very deceptive. on each side is a decorative piece of plastic, and they are measuring this into the size - but it is on the sides of this box, so it is basically 2 inches shorter on each side, meaning it's more like 14" long. Inside is the same - there is plastic to hang files, and that takes up space, so if you are looking for a box 18-1/2" long to have something that size fit inside here, look elsewhere. Sterlite, this is deceptive and wrong - the box should be measured from the inside so people can buy the correct size for what they need, NOT adding decorative plastic past those dimensions and counting that.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Barbie28311, the dimensions listed on our website and labels are the measurements taken from the widest points of the product, typically the lid or top, and include any protrusions such as latches. Inside bottom dimensions are smaller as the product tapers downward. This is the universal method for measuring housewares. We are very sorry to hear the File Box did not meet your size expectations. I’m helping my mom organize her important paperwork and this box has been great. It has room for folders and other envelopes etc. Being a stand alone box it allows my sibling to have access to the papers too. I have received this product as part of My Take Research Study

Holds all my paperwork

This is perfect for all my papers I need to keep and store. This actually holds everything I needed to put in it and the see through design makes it easy to see what is inside. The lid is easy to open and close, and it stays secured until you go to open. This is a stackable design so once I need another I can just stack these in my home office closet. Exactly what I needed and was looking for in a file box. I received this product as part of a My-Take research study.

Portable File Box

I love this portable file box! I am an avid crocheter and I download many patterns. I use hanging file folders to organize them. This file box is portable and perfect for storing my patterns. It has a ledge to support the hanging files -- both letter size and legal size. I store the file box in the closet and when I need a pattern, I set the box on the ottoman in front of my chair and browse. The top keeps the dust out and the units are stackable. Loved is so much that I just bought another file box. I received this product as part of a My-Take research study."
