Good case that can be great with some tweaks.

The case fits perfectly and looks good but the arms that swing back for the joy cons to come off pull on the joy cons a little too much for my liking as it looks like it’s trying to pull them out without pushing the release button. The hard shell cover is too snug to where trying to put it on is a task because the bottom part of the case can get ripped off if you don’t pull kinda hard to pull the case over the bottom of the switch and case. There’s also no easy way to take it off so I have to hold it sideways and pull the cover and switch with the case apart. But when it’s together it’s nice and secure which will make a good case for protection but for everyday use it’s inconvenient to put on and pull off. The joy cons are also not completely covered on the tip due to the swinging mechanism which is bad for me because I like as much cover as I can get to avoid scratches. Good case with the protection to be great with some changes.

Nice dockable case.

Fits great on the Switch 2 and docks very easily. The magnetic mount for the energy pack is definitely a great feature as well. Only reason to really take off 1 star is that in the FAQ on the product page it said it holds 2 carts per grip for a total of 4, but in reality it holds 1 each for a total of 2.

Good but just needs a bit more for improvement

Ok, First off the fitment for this case I find is the best amongst some of the initial similar cases that were released from other brands. What i mean is the bottom doesnt flap around as bad and this case still gives you access to the kickstand. I like the game cartridge slots and the magsafe battery holder is fairly convenient. Its a bit tight going into the dock but it'll fit snug enough. The grips are just fine but in my opinion they need to be a bit bigger with some rubberized texture of some sort. Im considering buying and applying some grip tape because this can probably slip in your hands. Lastly this case cut my finger. Yes it cut my finger while holding it. The bottom part of both of the hinges arent as smoothed out compared to other rounded out edges on the case. A bit disappointing. Maybe I got a bad batch but I still dont dislike this case. It even fits snug in my switch travel case.

Decent case but feels a tad unfinished
on September 3, 2025

Overall the case looks nice and fits well. My one problem is that parts of the plastic feel unfinished and a little sharp for my liking. It makes me really wished I paid more for their other case than getting the cheaper one. I also had to wait a long time for mine so hopefully shipping is now faster. I recommend spending the extra for the other grip case they offer. I imagine it is more comfortable to hold.

Solid Case with Neat Tricks
on September 5, 2025

Overall solid for my use case. Pros: good coverage, solid travel cover, magsafe works well, cart storage is fun, grips feel good in hand, docks easily. Cons: slight interference to game cart slot cover, travel cover is really hard to take off, bottom edge of case is extremely flimsy and feels like it might break in some situations (ex. When putting travel cover on), cart storage is very tight and scuffs carts lightly, kickstand corners are blocked for use as deployment area only (kickstand works perfectly but can only be opened from USB C slot)

Great fit

I wanted something minimal and not too bulky so it would still fit in my Tomtoc case and it does. The hinges work great and it’s easy to pop them off to remove the joy cons, also docks fine

Feels like a rushed idea -- an attempt to see if good will can sell bad products..

I have always been an early adopter of GENKI products and would proudly showed off their Switch gear to other owners and hesitant buyers. The original Force Field was the best case I have ever owned. It was convenient, felt great in the hand, and even had a hidden message under the lip of the faceplate cover. Every detail felt intentional and clever. The Force Field 2 feels like a rough 3D print of a basic concept. It lacks the refinement and thought of the original. After months of waiting for it to arrive, I found it less convenient, harder to use, and frustrating compared to the simple magnetic top of the FF1. The clamshell design is awkward to remove, the bottom blocks airflow, and it still does not feel substantial in hand. It is too thick for most third-party docks and just tight enough in the official dock to leave small scuffs. The game card holders are too tight and will eventually fail. While the product photos on the site are accurate, I assumed the real thing would be better because GENKI had always delivered fantastic build quality before. I even told my wife it looked childish online but that they would pull through.GENKI set a high bar with the Force Field. The Force Field 2 does not meet it. I cannot recommend it, and I TRULY hope the company returns to the thoughtful design and build quality that made their earlier products exceptional.

Average product marred by problematic launch
on September 7, 2025
Posted by: Rose M.
For reference, I pre-ordered this item in April and it was expected to launch in June alongside the Switch 2. I did not receive it until September. However, Genki has had a horrendous launch with their Switch 2 products. Acknowledging that some of the issues are outside their control, their communication and transparency regarding the launch has left a lot to be desired. That out of the way, the product itself is... fine. I’m not impressed with it especially given its price. It’s a hard piece of thin plastic and does what they advertise. It does dock and has the patented hinges for quick removal of joycons or storing 2 games (one under each joycon). I do have concerns, however, about how these hinges will treat the joycons long term. There is no soft protection on the joycon hinges so you have plastic on plastic rubbing against one another when you want to open the hinge. My other issue is personal but not isolated in that the grip for the joycons has an elevated bump. The Switch 2 without a case is flat while this case has a bump grip, like a controller that’s supposed to conform to your palm/hand. This is desirable for some, but not for me. It feels unnatural and actually makes my hand feel sore after a while. I ended up removing the case and will likely no longer use it and accept the loss. It is what it is.
