Easy set up and control with tv remote. Sound is much deeper than tv speakers! Do have trouble with volume differences while streaming on youtube and youtube tv (I think this is a youtube issue)!

I love that I now have 3 zones and can fill the entire house with music. The bonus is that I can turn the TV down in the living room where I have no external speakers and watch a movie with the sound coming from my Sonos ceiling speakers which is theater quality! My Beam is connected to my 72" downstairs which is phenomenal!

Just Not That Powerful

TL/DR: Not powerful enough. Long Version: For context, I live in a small New York apartment. I love my Sonos speakers in general. I have several of the Sonos One units and then, last year, I purchased The Beam. Previously, I had an amplifier and a couple of fairly large Bose bookshelf speakers. But the whole thing took up so much room that I thought to myself, "This is such a small living room. I could open up so much space just by getting a really nice soundbar." Since I already had Sonos speakers, I figured it was a good idea to get the Beam, even though it was quite a bit more expensive than other soundbars. On the upside, it's a very beautiful piece of technology, super easy to sync and set up, and I LOVE how it effortlessly becomes the default speaker of the TV, no matter what input I am using. If I am watching AppleTV, it's the speaker. If I flip to regular TV, it's the speaker. No need to switch or push buttons or anything. I like that. But here's the thing. It's just not that powerful of a speaker. Specifically, in the summer, it's just not powerful enough to compete with my window unit air conditioner. Yes, I have a fairly annoying high-pitched air conditioner. And the Beam is no match for it. I have to really push the volume ALL the way up to be able to hear any dialogue at all. So what I end up doing is running the AC until the room is comfortable and then shutting it off to watch a movie or some TV until it gets too hot and then I do the process again or I just watch TV with some nice headphones. I wish this thing had more "oomph". Or I wish there were some settings that could get movie dialogue to pierce through my AC's whining. During the months when I don't need my AC, it's a completely serviceable. speaker.
