All the past sound bars in this price range have been just speakers, this small size puts out a big sound. That is more likable, meaning just great sound what you'd expect from a full surround 5.1 system. Easy to set up was a pleasant experience. Unless you have a huge room I find the base does not require a sub. I also appreciate how easily it plays music from my iPhone. Buy it hook it up and enjoy.

Great sound but TV remote paired with the Beam just ok

Installation was easy and sound is great. I followed the instruction to pair my TV remote so I can control the Beam with just one TV remote but you have to come very close to the Beam to get the remote to work. I'm assuming it the mechanism in the Beam that is not very sensitive...
