I Would Not Buy This Again

This is my first Sonos product. Getting the app to work on iPhone with the Beam G2 Is painfully difficult. After numerous unsuccessful troubleshooting suggestions, it asked that I split my primary Wifi channel to separate 2.4 and 5 Gig networks. The other 34 devices in my house aren't that particular and easily connect to the appropriate network. I expected more from Sonos. They really need to update this app. While the sound is quite good, the $429 Beam G2 really needs a $429 bass mini. Not such a good deal anymore when you need to spend north of $850 to get the sound I thought I was getting for $429.
Pros: Dolby Digital 5.1
Cons: Difficult To Setup

Make sure it works with your tv

The sound cuts out intermittently for 2-3 seconds at a time. I spent time with customer support when I first installed. Then worked though forums trying to find a solution. I'm sure there are lots of reviews where others have had this issue. It is likely a specific age/model of your tv but there are no warnings to tell you which tvs don't work. Sound is really good, but test before you get rid of packaging, receipts, or your old sound bar.

Cons: Unreliable

We built a new covered patio and along with 70" TV put in a Beam to give it more life. Newer Sonos user, have been so impressed put another 2 in the house and added AMP for the ceiling speakers as well. It is awesome.

Not backward compatible with all the S1 equipment I have invested in. A split cumbersome ineffective system is not an option as you suggest. Be careful, no doubt an S3, S4 will come in the future and make your working equipment non compatible

At least once a week I have to reset the beam or call in to customer service. For the price, that should never be the case. I was also told , "it's just not very compatible with my TV". That was never mentioned when it was purchased and does not say anything online about that either. It's very frustrating and if I could return it I would.

Sounds good, but Appletv remote issue

This sounds wonderful, however...I set it up as instructed and it worked fine at first. I paired it with my appleTV system and remote control, but now the apple remote no longer works to adjust the sound. This is super annoying!! The volume level on screen goes up or down, but no change in volume level. I have to use the sonos app on my phone
