Exceeded expectations

I wanted to get a sound bar that supported Dolby Atmos. The previous soundbar/sub I had was nice - and better than the TV - but wasn't thrilling in any way. So, I went looking for a Dolby Atmos capable sound bar and selected the Sonos Beam Gen 2. It's a clear difference maker for movies with Dolby Atmos - moving the home experience much closer to that of going to a theater. The right movie and sound bar can pull you into the scene with Dolby Atmos - try the initial race scene in "Player One" - what a difference with the Sonos Beam Gen 2. I got it initially without the sub and was surprised at the bass it can put out on its own in a small room. If you have a small room, it can stand on its own and is a game changer.

This one piece can be used in smaller environments on it's own for both music and theater. If you are experienced with other SONOS pruducts, this speaker is not as "meaty" as other designs and is really enhanced by adding a couple 5's. Or a Sub if you want the real thunder. BUT, on it's own it is very impressive with sound separation and if you live in a condo or apartment, it is plenty able to fill the room.

My wife and I added the Beam 2 to our Sony A8H and it really complements that television's gorgeous picture quality. We tend to watch television and movies, and we love how the Beam isn't too obtrusive or boomy when we watch the news or Law and Order reruns, while with a film we can crank up the Beam and it's more than capable of filling the room with quality sound. My wife also likes how the Beam nearly disappears on our television stand, and the wires are easily hidden.

Just upgraded my original beam for the gen II, it is amazing. Finally, surround sound that sounds like you thought it should. Fully immersive, you feel like you are in a theatre.
