So like most Americans I suffer from lower back pain. However my pain isn't improved with a lumbar support which comes standard with most chairs that are slated to "help with back pain." My issue comes from the base of the chair (the part that you sit on) not being firm enough. The best way to describe what I have been taught by my chiropractor and doctor is that a good chair is one that is firm like you are sitting on a board. The spine needs help from the tailbone up which means that when you sit on a chair with a lot of cushion the tailbone sinks in and can't give the rest of the back the support it needs. This chair provides both: comfort and support. Yes there is great lumbar support for the lower back but the mesh that you sit on also give great support to the tailbone while being comfortable enough to sit on all day. Highly recommend this chair!!
