Staples Hyken Technical Mesh Task Chair Black

I decided to buy a mesh chair for increased ventilation and comfort compared to typical padded-type chairs. I've been using it at least 8 hours a day for the last week and find it to be very comfortable. I assembled it myself in about fifteen minutes using the easy-to-follow instructions plus the included hardware and an Allen wrench (the only tool you'll need). All the available adjustments (seat height back tilt and tension armrest height) fit me fine. My only complaint is that the underside of the black seat base had three large white tamper-proof stickers attached. You know the ones that say "Not to be removed under penalty of law except by the consumer". Of course I removed them because they're huge and ugly but it left a sticky mess that took another 15 minutes of hard scrubbing to clean up. Aside from that I'm very happy with the chair and I'm glad to have it.

Chair provides great back support and the headrest is great. Love the way the back tilts when I'm just being lazy and reading online articles.

Uncomfortable

After trying all the chairs in the store I bought this one. I wanted lumbar support and upper back support and it provides that. The headrest is nice too. But after sitting in it for a few weeks I started getting pains I never had before and finally figured out they come from the seat. The seat "hammocks" and I am not a huge person. I weigh 135 pounds. The seat has no cushioning or support. The seat sags and then my thighs get pinched causing them to go slightly numb and then eventually creating a pain my my buttocks. I tried putting a cushion on the seat but that made the lumbar support all wrong. So right now the chair is in a corner of my office. I am sitting at my desk using a regular chair that has a cushioned seat just to give me body a break. Sadly I can not return the chair because too much time has passed. It just took me a while to figure out the problem! Do not buy this chair if you need to sit in it for any length of time. You will regret it.

Very Good Value

I rarely write reviews but I'm taking the time here so that I can possibly help someone make a good decision and save them some back pain. So here's my honest opinion. I hope it helps you: I bought this chair after checking out many options at Staples and another office store. Many of the chairs I sat in were two to three times more expensive but I bought this one because it actually felt like it had better support than the others. I would have gladly spent more if I thought one of the other chairs would be better for my posture and my back. I've had the chair for almost two weeks and I'm very happy with it. It was pretty easy to put together. It is living up to my expectations and my back feels much better. The consruction may not be as rugged as some of the more expensive chairs but I think it is quite good for what I spent (a fraction of the money I was willing to spend). Overall a very good value in my opinion.

One piece of the chair was broken during shipping. Customer service was very pleasant and helpful in getting a replacement part.

LOVE THIS CHAIR

I'm in my office chair 6-10 hours a day and this chair prevents fatigue and discomfort like none I've ever owned before. My Serta was 10 years old and worn out but even new it was never this comfortable or supportive. Glad I stopped in the store to try this one out! One of my best ever Staple's buys.

We love the Hyken Mesh Task Chair!

We recently replaced all our computer chairs in our home with Staples Hyken Technical Mesh Task Chairs because we loved our first one tremendously! They're ergonomically comfortable have a mesh to keep you from getting overheated and the lower back support is perfect. There's a neck/head piece (which you can leave off if you don't want it but I don't see why you would do that) too that's missing from many task chairs. Best of all when you need to stretch back and think there's a tilt to the chair that lets you do just that! I can't think of anything negative about this chair.
