Yeah get one! Get two. I was floored at the quality of this chair. 3 years ago this chair was selling for around $300. You can sit in this chair for hours at a time. This will be money well spent.
I bought this to replace an older foam seat chair. The foam / leather office chairs are just too hot and sweaty the mesh back and seat are really important especially in the summer. I have the Dexley as well so this can serve as a comparison. I also bought them both with my money and have not be compensated for a review. The dexley is great but definitely bigger and wider which is why I wanted to try the Hyken. I am 5'8 160lb. The seat depth on the Dexley was a bit deep so sometimes I used a small pillow in my low back for proper support but it is not needed. I wanted to try the hyken as it is smaller. It feels great very ergonomic. The arm paddings isn't great but better than plastic. The arm raising and lower is nicer on the dexley than the hyken. What is odd is the upright position for the hyken feels severe such that i want to recline a bit even when sitting up straight. They hyken does have locking positions along the recline which is nice as the dexley does not. The main drawback on the hyken is the neck rest. I am 5'8 so not very tall and the neck rest on the hyken is like at the top of my spine in the tallest position. I may just remove it because it feels weird especially when sitting in the 90deg vertical position. It is pushing against the back of my shoulders. When fully reclined it feels to be in the right position though. Super weird I feel like it needs to be like 4-8in taller. For tall people you will probably want to remove it. Other than that great chair no issues sitting 4-8 hours a day so far for work. I use the dexley at my gaming desk and its great for 4-6 hours as well. I've had the dexley for a year and the hyken for a week.
I really love the chair but there is one area that is not comfortable for me. Under my thigh I feel the metal on the seat edge. I have tried a pillow but it's a not a great solution because I still feel pain from the metal on the side. I hope I can return it after a few months of use based on the 5 year warranty.
I first bought this chair back in 2016 after seeing how good of a deal it was. 8 years later and I am finally having to replace it because the armrest padding is starting to disintegrate. I can't complain for the price I paid then (and even better price this year!). It's a must buy for anyone who has to sit for long periods and the support it provides is the best of any chair I've ever had. It made no sense to get anything else.
The chair arrived pretty fast. The installation was easy. The chair itself is very comfortable but the head rest can feel a bit awkward when you want to tilt all the way back and slouch. Other than that I'd recommend. For reference I'm 5'7 at around 145 lbs
This chair almost had it all. Yet it fails in 2 subtle ways: - The chair seems designed for small individuals: the headrest is way too low reaching between the shoulders instead of the head. This is obviously very disagreeable and I fear that the only option will be to remove it. A pity this was one of the features I was looking for. - The arm rests are generally fine but could have been wider. I feel that I have to keep my arms closer to my chest because of this. Once again maybe a smaller individual wouldn't suffer from these dimensions. All in all one has to remember the price of this chair and for this price range it is arguably excellent value. But beware if you are tall.
