I own 2 other highly rated brands of vacuums, and I have 2 dogs and 2 kids. Lots of hair and lots of messes. I was surprisingly impressed with this vacuum. It worked well on both carpet and hard floors. I had just vacuumed with one of my other vacuums when this one arrived. I knew I couldn't wait until I 'needed' to vacuum again, so I put it together and got to work! This thing got up so much dog hair and dust, even after my highly rated pet hair vacuum had just done its own job. I liked that I was able to detach the top canister and the hose so I could get all of the nooks and crannies on my walls/ceiling. The canister seemed to hold quite a bit before needing to be emptied, too. I was impressed with the pet hair attachment - it cleaned my couch really well. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this vacuum - it's become a regularly used item in my household.

Best Vacuum I've Had

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I initially got the older version of this vacuum as a gift from my mom. I used it for a little over 4 years until a part of it broke that couldn't be replaced. I contacted Bissell to ask if it was fixable and they sent me a whole new vacuum (this updated version). No questions, no hassle, just a whole new, better vacuum delivered within just a few days. I am now the owner of a small cleaning company and recommend this vacuum to my customers and my team of cleaners. It gets down deeper with the bristles and gets more pet hair off of carpets than any other vacuum (even better than our Dyson!). The upholstery tool is amazing and gets our furniture completely free of pet hair. The only downside is that it's a bit heavy, but this new version is a little lighter than the old one which is nice. This vacuum is more than worth the investment! #sweepstakes

Bought for the wife. We have a Dyson, and it was too hard to push in the carpet. Surprised her with it. She wouldn't of bought a lift off. But when i watched her use the other one. It would tip over and she struggled with it. Picked Bissel because we have a wet mop, and it has been positive purchase. It has good suction and with the control you can pick how much you want. The lift off is way better than fighting the hose hanging onto the vacuum. Unit is light. She likes having the attachments on the unit. Been a great purchase, very pleased. Good suction, easy to push. Assembles easy, dumps clean. Good unit over all.

A surprisingly efficient vacuum!

I have two cats (one is a long hair) and two small children. Our house is mostly carpet, with a little bit of linoleum. The first time I vacuumed my downstairs, I filled THREE canisters of dirt, hair and dust. Normally, I collect one full canister. It's not like I never vacuum, either! I thought I was keeping our living spaces clean. I was shocked at how much this vacuum picked up. Not only was it super simple to go from carpet to bare floors, but it's really easy to separate and use the top canister to vacuum the stairs. That's my favorite part! I can easily clean the car seats or the couch efficiently. There's a sealed HEPA allergen filter which is important for my family as we try to keep our air as pure as possible. With a sealed system, the air coming out of the vacuum is cleaner than when it went in, and that brings me peace of mind! The tangle free brush roll is still tangle free, although I haven't had the vacuum for very long. But so far so good! I'm so thankful to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this vacuum. I love it!

I tested this against my other vacuum and you can see a difference! I thought my Roomba was picking up more than it was. This vacuum does a great job getting all of the dirt that is deep in my rugs and all of the pet hair. It works like a charm though.

I made myself dizzy researching vacuums. I've owned 2 Dyson over the past 10 yrs. First one lasted 7+ years and still works despite the cover over brush falls off. My second died after 2 years despite the hefty $500 price tag. Ran SO hot and was SO loud. I decided not to spend that kind of money again bc most products last about 2 years. This vacuum is decent. Does the job on carpets, furniture, draperies etc. Not so great on hardwood floors but still does the job. Just takes more "go overs" than the carpet cleaning. I like the lift off feature for the stairs and drapes. I have 2 heavy shedders. A terrier with little hairs that gets stuck everywhere and a Golden which is self explanatory. This vacuum seems to clean just fine as compared to the Dyson. I'd say difference is suction power. Dyson is superior there but not enough for the price and longevity of the machine.

It does an excellent job of cleaning, it is very easy to clean and they have improved the HEPA filter. My wife also loves the light on this machine. Would recommend this unit. We have a 90 pound English Creme Golden Retriever that sheds plenty of hair too !
