Great basic machine.

I purchased the lower end of the heavy duty machines. It does all the basic stuff and does it well. I just needed a machine to make small projects like placemats, masks, holders for crochet needles, etc. It's much better than the cheap light weight plastic machines, although this one isn't too heavy, but certainly not made of all plastic either.

The machine arrived with the timing off, making it impossible to thread the bobbin. Luckily my husband was able to fix it with the help of some Youtube videos.

Replaced my 40 year old Singer machine

After 40 years of serving me well, my Singer machine died. No way to repair it. I needed something heavy duty since I work on all thicknesses of fabrics, but I wanted a no fuss, non-computerized machine similar to what I had. I love this machine! It is simple and straightforward, just enough extra stitches (I don't embroider or make quilts), had a nice carrying handle (though I have a bag) and is a pleasure to use.

gets the job done

I needed to sew some pretty heavy wicker fabric to redo my sling style patio furniture. I borrowed the neighbors machine, and it took several hours to sew one sling. It just wasn't cutting it, so I went online, and ordered this HD 4411. Now I will probably never use it again, but at least I have it if I need it, and I know that no matter what the job, this machine will breeze right through it. I was able to finish 8 more slings in about 90 minutes. If it can handle that fabric as easily as it did, then it should handle just about anything. Even if I never use it again, it was well worth the price just by saving me the headache of plodding through the job with an unfit machine.

Not what I expected

Bought this machine as a birthday present for my 14 yr old granddaughter who is learning to sew & loves it. After 2 mos of use had to return the machine to the store. Clerk there sent it out for repair but said "what do you expect from a throw away machine?", I said, I expected to use it for a few years not 2 mos & have it in the shop already!!!! It wasn't a throw away machine when she sold it to me. Turned out it needed to be oiled & adjusted. Still not acceptable for only having it 2 mos!!!!

I have had this machine for a few weeks and am very pleased with it's capabilities. I purchased it for sewing heavy fabrics, duck and denim for bags, nail aprons, tool rolls, zip up tool bags, etc. It will sew 2 and 3 layers of duck with no problem. I use a 18 needle and carpet thread. Of course I am also sewing lighter fabrics with no problem at all with smaller needles and thread. I am proceeding slowly as I am self taught and the results are just outstanding. The price was very right for the capabilities of this machine.

Does the Job

The machine is louder than any others I have and have used. I think it would be much better if it had a push button for the reverse instead of what it has. It does a GREAT job in sewing through multiple thickness of fabric. A metal casing would be nicer than the plastic. The plastic makes it look cheap and like a toy. If you need to sew heavy duty this is the machine to get.
