It works fine. Not sure what makes it Heavy Duty. Mostly plastic. My older Singer machine is much sturdier.

i was so excited about my sewing machine and i just couldn't get the tension right on the thread. I watched videos and couldn't figure it out, their support took WEEKS to get back to me and wasn't helpful other than to suggest a return or exchange. I returned it and bought a different sewing machine from a small individually owned shop in my area.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
