I grew up using a Singer. I hoped this machine would be a good, BUT... Although is work great, one of the primary features I wanted does not work. I wanted the three position needle selection. Unfortunately, it is stuck in the left position. To get it fixed, at my own expense, I need to ship it to the nearest authorized repair center. I am in the middle of a sewing project and cannot be without this machine. Singer will not do a turnaround exchange for my NEW machine nor pay for any shipping for a machine with is still under warranty.
Total beginner with sewing machines. Just recently purchased this machine from a Singer store. It's been a few weeks and I haven't experienced any issues. It's totally simple and everything is laid out. Also very pleased with the speed of the machine. Seems much faster than the average sewing machine! The extra features and accessories are nice as well.
It is sturdy and fast but had trouble with the bobbin within a few days and no problem solving as it is set at the factory. Now I must take it in for repair. Hardly a good way with a new machine I was so excited to get.
I like this machine for the price and value. I sew as an amatuer on canvas projects for boats. Building canvas covers, shades and window panels for the boat we live on. The machine will sew thru 10 layers, 9 of canvas and 1 of strataglass with ease. If you follow directions and learn a few basics you will like the machine.
I haven't sewed anything for quite some time. I thought it would be fun to get back into it so I bought a familiar name brand, Singer. Well, I had fun with it for a couple of days, then the feeder dogs stopped working. I called customer service and after being on hold for 1 hour and 40 minutes I got some help. We were on the phone for about 45 minutes before we got the feeder dogs working. Now today is the first time I have tried to sew anything since fixing it and it won't sew! Very frustrating. I really don't want to go back on the phone, the online help is no help at all and the closest Singer repair is 2 hours away. That's likely not going to happen. So be careful when you pick your sewing machine, Singer is not what it used to be.
Iswitched back to a SInger machine after trying other brands. I am glad I did. I learned to sew on a SInger. I wanted just a simpe heavy duty machine, the only problem I'm having is getting the bobbin threaded right, This is a great machine.
I am in love with this machine! The button holes are awesome and so easy. Sewed the buttons on too. Really zips along. Replaced a 35 year old Singer and glad I stayed with a Singer.
