I Take Back my Poor Review

This machine is the BEST for the best value that you can possibly get!!! I had previously written a review for this machine that I wish I could edit. Unfortunately, they do not allow that, so I just have to write a new one. I had purchased this machine and it wouldn't sew through simple nylon strapping and after one use, the timing became off causing me to have to fix it. I wrote a review because I was disappointed. Singer reached out to me after reading my review. We went through multiple steps and they determined what I had suspected - I got a lemon. They replaced my machine and I am so happy I chose the Singer Heavy Duty. I just sewed a zipper on a leather purse I have. Three layers of leather plus the zipper and the needed went through like butter (see attached photos). It sews smoothly and at a fast pace, if need be! I love that I can also adjust the speed when I get to difficult parts by letting off the pedal a bit. My mom had a Singer growing up, which is why I chose this brand. They are reliable. And I'm so glad I chose the heavy duty, because I tend to work on projects that need that extra muscle. I am so happy with this sewing machine that I find myself looking for projects just so I can play around with it! Thank you, Singer - there is a reason you have been around for years!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Since receiving this machine in late July, I have determined that it arrived with a faulty factory tension setting. Even at the highest tension setting (9), my straight stitch is less than ideal, with visible top thread loops on the underside of my fabric. I consider myself an intermediate seamstress and have been sewing on various machines for 10 years now. I have reached out to Singer and will update this review once I have heard from them. But at the moment, I have a machine that is sitting on my table and unusable. Disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We set a high standard for ourselves, and we’re so sorry to hear this item did not meet your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to post this review.
This machine sucks. I am fighting to glide the fabric through and the motor sounds like it is dying. Trying to return it but Singer has not replied to my email for a return label. After the disappointment with my last Singer machine, I may have to move on to another brand.
Easy to set up,and easy to use. Just what I needed.

I previously owned a Husqvarna with all the bells and whistles you could buy for it for about 10 years. It was so heavy to put up on my table you needed help and it was so complicated that almost every time I used it I had to get the manual out. The manual itself was horrible. I love this little machine. There are so many little genius things right on the machine itself like threading directions, bobbin thread direction and winding, etc. It's user friendly and I can lift it with one hand. When I think what I spent on my previous machine and what I spent on this one, I have learned a valuable lesson. This one is a little power house and I've owned it for almost a year and love it more each time I use it.
Frankly I was never going to buy another Singer based on past experiences years ago but needed an inexpensive heavy duty machine to sew heavy quilting pieces. So far so good until the other day. The bobbin thread was not feeding properly and tangling. I changed the needle and the presser foot from a walking foot to a regular foot. Then it went crazy on me with the needle going up and down when the presser foot was still in an up position. I had to switch machine off to make it stop. But today it is working perfectly so am puzzled by that occurrence. Naturally I hope it will not happen again.

Terribly frustrating

Im probably just going to return the machine in yhe next few days. Worked for about an hour and then the bobbin case started acting up and popping out. Now it won't sewing anything and just binds up so I have to take the machine apart ever 60 seconds. Im really sad because this is the same company generations of my family have used and this is beyond frustrating.

I'm so sorry you are having difficulties with the bobbin case. Before giving up, please double check to make sure the case is seated properly with in the bobbin area. Once placed and you are no longer holding on to the bobbin case lever, the bobbin should not be able to fall out. I often gently 'jiggle' the edge of the bobbin case with my finger to be sure it won't fall out. If you feel it is sitting correctly, leave the bobbin door open while you turn the handwheel toward you to see the needle take one full rotation (the same thing you would do to bring up your bobbin thread). If the needle makes it all the way through this process (without the bobbin falling out or the needle hitting metal) then you should be good to go.
It has been difficult for me to use the machine because the auto threader was not attached. I have tried reaching the company but no one answers my emails and no one answers the phone. I am disappointed with the machine and the service.
