I researched so many different sewing machines before finally selecting the Singer 4411 Heavy Duty. I didn't want a machine that was so complicated I needed to spend hours and hours learning how to use it. This model is perfect for me. Very user friendly. I'm so thrilled with this sewing machine.

Sewing Upholstery Vinyl

I just purchased this machine and spent a few hours testing it out on a few different fabrics and thicknesses. When searching for a machine I had only 3 requirements: able to sew multiple layers of Upholstery vinyl, under 200$, and I wanted a mechanical machine. I am currently working on a costume corset made of Upholstery vinyl and my old machine can only handle lighter weight fabrics. So when I brought this home I ended up sewing up to 7 layers of vinyl (which is just under 1/4" thick). There were no hiccups when transitioning from 3 to 7 layers at the seam and no hiccups while sewing at 7 layers thick. It also sewed smoothly on 1-10 layers of muslim and 1-6 layers of cotton twill (did not have enough fabric to test out more than 4 layers). Overall, this machine is great for the price! I didn't give it 5 stars because I haven't been able to test out the longevity yet, and from previous reviews am wary that it may not last too long. Although it may not be the best machine money can buy, so far straight out of the box it met all of my requirements as a poor university student who loves to make costumes.

Iswitched back to a SInger machine after trying other brands. I am glad I did. I learned to sew on a SInger. I wanted just a simpe heavy duty machine, the only problem I'm having is getting the bobbin threaded right, This is a great machine.

Bought the 4411 because it is listed as Heavy Duty and it sure is. Sews over seams in canvas with ease. Clear Vinyl is no problem if you don't go fast. A little noisy under load but keeps right on stiching!! Great. REJ

I love this machine! My mom and sister's bought it for me for Christmas a few years ago since I love seeing and I am trying to learn to see my own garments and getting into quilting as well. I only wish there was a way to sew not quite so fast, as it can be overwhelming as a beginner seamstress!

I love this machine, I have looked for years for a machine that will sew garments & the heavy crafts sewing that I love. I can work on a mans shirt in the morning & a kitty cat bed in the afternoon without any problems. Great machine for a great price. Well done Singer!

Broke in 8 months

I bought this machine to use for daily sewing. I don't think it was made for that much use. The death of the machine happened 8 months after I got it when I dropped the feed dogs, they would not come back up. I have seen others comment on the same problem. So, just don't ever drop the feed, and you should be okay...but it's a feature that SHOULD work if it's on the machine. Not a very good machine, quality wise either.

I have a small at home sewing business. I just got this machine to replace my old cheap $50 machine. This new machine is awesome. It is so quiet and does not bind up as much. Plus I get my work done so quickly now.
