Great for Beginners

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is actually my second sewing machine from Singer and I love it already. I have actually only recently gotten into sewing a few months ago. It was not something I ever considered loving, but now I do. I was able to get my first sewing machine and started to play around with different things and now I use it every week. I wanted a second machine for different projects so I did not have to reset what I was using on my first machine. This machine is exactly what I needed.
I feel this is a great machine for anyone who may be new to sewing or someone who has been sewing for some time. It is easy to use once you start playing around with it. I like how when you select a stitch, it matches the size for you so you do not have any guess work. This was important to someone who is still learning.
This has 180 different stitch applications. It makes fixing buttons or pillows easy. I do not think I will ever use them all, but I like that it all pre-set in the event that I need one. The screen also makes it easy to see what I am planning on doing or what I may have been doing previously. It is a great feature and the only way I have stitched yet.
Overall, I love this machine just as much as I love my other. I cannot wait to see what items I fix or create next.

Sewing made easy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this new sewing machine. It's so easy to operate. It has a threader that is a big plus for me. There's a extension plate for adding on. A machine cover and extra bobbins and needles. You can adjust the width and tension. It has so many different stitches for any type of sewing. So many patterns to choose from. Simple instructions on how to thread the bobbin All digital makes it alot easier. Great for beginners and experts. I absolutely love it and I am going to use every different stitch on this sewing machine. I can take it anywhere I go. Very light weight and elegant.

Excellent sewing machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never sewn by hand or by machine, so this review will be from a complete newbie's perspective. We do Cosplay often so I have been wanting a sewing machine to make costumes and accessories, and also just for repairing and upcycling clothing, making new things out of old garments. I had a little trouble getting this machine up and running, but I know that it was all user error. The machine works perfectly, any issues I have come across have been because I was doing something wrong.
The box includes the machine, the power cord, the foot pedal and cord, a thin plastic (vinyl?) cover, and a bag of accessories - (bobbins, needles, various feet, etc.) The machine comes with a needle installed. It does not come with a manual, only a quick start guide that shows you how to thread the top spindle and bottom bobbin. You can download a .pdf of the user guide from the Singer site. It's very thorough, it includes detailed diagrams to guide you through setting up and using the machine, and it goes over all the different stitches and what stitches are best for certain fabrics. There is a hidden storage compartment on the machine, and you can remove this storage compartment and install the extension table for more space to work on.
Winding the bottom bobbin was quick and easy, but getting the needle threaded was tricky for me, I had a little trouble figuring out the various tension areas that it had to go through. I got it eventually though! This machine has an automatic needle threader and it works very well. Once the machine was threaded and ready to go, I had a blast trying out the various stitches on some scrap fabric. There are tons of different stitches/button holes to try out, and these are somewhat customizable - you can adjust stitch lengths and widths. Once I felt more comfortable with it, I tried hemming some knit pajama pants that were too long for me, I kept tripping over the bottoms. It was not a pretty hem by anyone's standards, but it was my first attempt and it worked and I'm pretty proud of it. I think the machine did a terrific job, there was no puckering, no tension issues, and I have read that knit fabrics can be difficult. The foot pedal is very responsive, it speeds up and slows down precisely when I want it to. The machine always stops with the needle in the "up" position, very cool. It does reverse stitching as well, which has been very helpful in tacking my starting threads down and keeping them all secured. We have used the machine's overlocking stitches to finish the edges of aida and linen that we use for other crafts, it makes very quick & easy work of that.
The only issues I have run into have been my fault. Shortly after taking it out of the box I was just fiddling around with it and I removed the bobbin and shuttle assembly and couldn't get them back in so I panicked because I thought I broke it...and a few minutes after that I accidentally detached the foot that was installed and again panicked and thought I had broken it. Both of these things were fine, lol, I got it all back together. The 2nd time I tried to use it I threaded the top and bottom with a new color thread and I had issues with the thread jamming and tangling and snapping...this was again my fault, I didn't have the top thread completely right. Once I rethreaded it, it worked like a dream. Aside from my own clumsiness, this machine has run very smoothly and has been a delight to use. I'm eager to learn more about making my own things! I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

Good machine for a beginner!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very new to sewing and have been taking lessons periodically. I had an old Singer that was problematic when trying to thread the bobbin. Not so on this great machine! I love the self needle threader and the overall ease of use. I wish a detailed manual had been included, but it was well packaged and also included all the needed extras (cover, etc). I can't wait to watch more online videos and use the many stitches!

Intermediate Beginner

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Singer 62C Brilliance Plus Sewing Machine is great. Right when you open it it looks great, has everything you need to get started and extra bonus accessories with a extension table. Has a Quick Start Guide, Safety Instructions and another paper basically saying to find your manual at the singer website and warranty also. On the Quick start guide it is nicely shown how to start preparing your machine and bobbin the thread. There is a QR code to scan that directs you to YouTube Channel but the one that pops up isn't specifically for your machine just general. I found the QR not very helpful for a Beginner because they need more detail for there machine as they wont really know anything basic if just starting. That being said if you put in the exactly the Singer your using then you have few more options. The best way to get started is to get the manual which if you go to Singer Web Site put in your model it will bring up and go down to Manual click the plus on the left side and download the manual which is 72 pages long. The manual is great once you actually have it. So for me if you are just begining it may be issue not having a printed one in box, or if your not a very tech person that may cause issue.
That being said the machine is nice, nice stitching light, nice clear LCD Screen, quick hint buttons left/right is Width up/down is Length. When you turn on the machine it does make a noise as it goes in to default adjustment and when you do stitch it has noise from stitching. 181 Stitch applications which gives you great options for different projects. I liked doing some of the random stitching patterns I found that this machine moves smoothly in its pattern stitching. Some patterns have more adjustable room with your length and width than others. Great way to do little more with few more options of button holes. Another feature I do like is the Needle Threader that is so much helpful even though I found the lighting to be great to see the needle hole also it just makes it more faster than the regular fashion way. Nice step up in my eyes.
Take note that in this set are the metal bobbin pins and this machine has the under bobbin threader. Has the removable accessories storage box also which I always like to keep my extra to go items that I use in most regular sewing projects. On this model you also get the reverse stitch button that very helpful also. This sewing machine is basically ready to start once you get it threaded as it is in all default settings for your basic start needs. I do believe this would be good for a person who is now ready for more projects which in my eyes that reaches intermediate begining level for sewing.
If a Beginner did get this Singer 62C Brilliance Plus computerized sewing machine it be good if they did there research and learn the manual and watch videos as there is many features to this machine. I think this machine is great, stitches smoothly, petal isn't so touchy, lighting is great, LCD screen is nice and clear to see great pattern options and able to Extend your sewing machine for bigger larger projects is amazing all together. Overall great value and quality machine next level up to great stitching projects.

So easy to use!

The instructions are easy to read and fallow and changing stitches is as easy as pushing a button. The peddle allows you to move at the speed your comfortable with. I highly recommend for any beginner.

Easy and fun!

I am really just hemming things and fixing some tears on our clothes for now, but I can't wait to start doing more complicated projects as I get more practice! This machine really makes things so much easier for me, and I am able to sew without being too nervous.
