You get what you pay for

I received several of the Silvercap knives as a gift. I strongly dislike the serrated, never-need-to-sharpen edge. It struggles to cut through squash, tomatoes, and mushrooms cleanly. The top edge is also surprisingly sharp. I usually rest a finger on the top of the blade for better control, but have had to readjust my cutting style after getting numerous cuts along my finger.

If you are accustomed to using fine edge cutlery and/or a heavier-duty forged style, our micro-serrated designs will take some adjustments. We recommend using a gentle sawing, rather than circular or chopping, motion. This will allow the teeth on the blade to cut smoothly. If you apply pressure without motion, you will likely crush the food. We hope this helps. Happy cooking!

Never Needs Sharpening

A santoku is great for chopping fruits and vegetables. The "dimples" on the blade help keep foods from sticking. The micro-serrated edge is sharp and can handle most chopping tasks but never needs sharpening. Love a maintenance free knife!

Good intro santoku knife

A good santoku for starters. The handle contours nicely in hand, and with the micro-serrated german stainless steel, it’s durable and you don’t have to worry about sharpening the knife. A good inexpensive knife if you want to start a knife collection.

A good price on a value santoku knife. The micro serration cannot be sharpened, but then again never needs sharpening. The handle is comfortable. Good knife for a second home or college kid, but if you really enjoy cooking, I suggest investing in a better knife with a fine edge. Henckels makes some great forged knives.

If you have never used a Santoku knife, this is a great place to start. The blade is unique for chopping. A lightweight blade which is very sharp. The handle is wide and contoured for comfort.

Great value. Made from high quality stainless steel so won't rust or tarnish. Blade has mico serrations so it never needs to be sharpened. Ergonomic handle is comfortable and easy to grip.

Great Everyday knife

This is my favorite knife to use in the kitchen. Just the right size and weight for easy cutting and chopping. Nice one piece construction which makes it much more durable than some of thre other knives I've used in the past. Also dish washer safe which is a definite plus!

Chop and mince with this Silvercap santoku equipped with hollow edge divets to guide food up and out of the way. The handle is comfortable to grip for any period of time and the strong blade makes chopping and mincing easy.
