Says "vegetable" cleaver...but I use for all meats as well. Solid as a rock...but also great balance. Really sharp right outta box...be careful! Doesn't dull quickly at all...
I know a lot of people would be scared off my the size of this (gigantic) knife, but don't be! I love using this to chop vegetables because it is a good weight to get through a lot of them all at once. I also love the fact that the blade is super wide so that you can move all those vegetables you have been chopping from the cutting board to the pan in one move!
This cleaver I actually feel safe using. The full tang and balance of the knife makes it feel so stable. The weight is evenly distributed and you feel the difference when you use it. The best cleaver on the market!
This can chop thru the most impressive pile of veggies or herbs in no time flat. I can mince piles of parsley without having to compress them too much, spring onions are a breeze, and potatoes chop and can be diced in large quantities, perfect for easy prep.
I grew up around cleavers and nakiri knives. My grandmother used them, my mother uses them and now I use them. This Pro cleaver is an extremely well made, brilliantly designed cutting implement. The steel is fabulous and the edge holds. The handle and grip are right for heavier work - think breaking down a kabocha squash. It is a sure thing when you are doing lots of cutting to do. I recommend a Pro Nakiri or better yet a Miyabi Artisan Nakiri to go with this. Then you have fine slicing covered as well.
This cleaver isn't intimidating like some cleavers because it is comfortable to hold (due to the curved bolster) and maneuvers easily through tough rinds and harder vegetables. When your chef's knife isn't sturdy enough for the job this is the one to pull out!
I love the Pro line and this is another great tool for your kitchen. I use my cleaver on harder vegetables such as root vegetables and for fruits with tough rinds such as watermelon. Super sharp and easy to hold due to the curved bolster which supports the pinch grip. Just a great tool to add to your kitchen lineup!
Another great knife from the Pro line. This one will cut through the toughest rinds - melons & Winter squash, plus much more. . . beets, carrots, onions, etc. Feels a bit heavy, but that also makes it sturdy and strong. With a curved bolster, it gives me a better grip and less tired fingers than without. Well worth the price!
