This nakiri is is very easy to cut with with it's FC61 steel. It is a traditional santoku and is made for chopping, which it does very well!

I am starting to grab my Nakiri blade more often now, it seems to do everything in the kitchen. This knife is a mixture of Geman engineering and traditional Japanese style.
Its made from FC61 steel, one of the toughest steels in the market place. I love the shape of the blade, it has just the right amount of curve to get through any project quickly.

so cool to use!

I had never heard of, let alone used a Nakiri, but when I saw it I was intrigued. I use it much like I use my santoku but it's so much more fun and and the motion to use it is really fun to watch. I tend to chop back and down motion with this rather than the down and forward I use with my santoku. It has a great flat surface so you can use it to chop but it also has the ability to rock a bit as well. It's a beautiful profile and of course the handle with the red glass beading is absolutely my favorite, for looks and for comfort.

Koh is a beautiful knife, simplistic beauty and superior quality. FC61 fine carbide steel and our special double ice-hardening process make this a sharp and durable knife. The handle is is gorgeous and the pakkawood is moisture resistant, not water-proof, so does not go in the dishwasher. Narkiri knives are mutitaskers and can do so many of your tasks in the kitchen.

The nakiri is quickly becoming one of my favorite knives, it is right up there with the santoku. I use this for cutting most of my vegetables and pretending that I am in an Iron Chef competiton! It makes quick work of prepping vegetables and I also use it on large mellons. Just a must have knife for the kitchen.

This santoku can roll into cut or chop. Very versatile. Hard steel, hand-honed in Japan. Handle is unique...but sits in palm quite nicely.

Great for vegetable cutting

This is such a unique knife and I am so happy I found it because it makes cutting vegetables so much easier than a chef's knife because of the wide blade. The handle is very comfortable and I feel like I can get a good grip on it because it is an octagon shape.

great comfortable knife

I love everything about this knife. The handle has such a unique look accented with a nice mosaic pin. It is very comfortable to hold. The Japanese blade has a very thin profile giving accurate thin cuts and slices. The steel goes through a double hardening process ensuring a durable chip resistant thin cutting edge. It is very easy to maintain the sharpness as well. The blade goes through the traditional Honbazuke sharpening process and features the traditional Katana style watermarking just above the cutting edge. A great example of Japanese craftsmanship.
