This bread knife will get through anything that has a hard exterior and soft interior. Yes, perfect for bread but excellent fog getting through a big melon or cabbage. The knife core is made from SG2 steel and surrounded by layers of nickel and stainless steel for additional protection. The handle is ever so comfortable with its D-shaped Cocobolo pakkawood handle. The hammered “Tsuchime” finish helps move food away from the blade while chopping.

Artisan is wonderful line within the Miyabi collection of Japanese kitchen knives. True Japanese cuisine may not involve bread but this knife works well with fruits or vegetables with a rind or a tough outer skin. The serration works nicely on western style crusty bread too, to reflect its name.

SG2 micro carbide Japanese steel is the industry's tops. Serration is so good, it can also be used for melon or beef slicing. Hammered finish helps prevent food-sticking and pakkawood handle is nearly indestructible.

Great bread knife

This is a great bread knife because it is longer than a standard bread knife being 9" instead of 8", so I am able to get through a crusty loaf of sourdough. The handle is very comfortable to use and the artistic touches on the blade are beautiful.
Excellent purchase I love these Knives. Will give more reviews after a couple of Month.

gorgeous bread knife

I purchased a Miyabi Artisan chefs knife a while back and wanted to add the serrated knife. I love my chefs knife for most things but wanted the serrated one for more specific jobs. Of course I use it for bread but it has so many other uses. Its great for tomatoes, melons, citrus or anything with a harder/thicker exterior and a soft interior. It also works great for peeling butternut squash. The pakka wood handle is very comfortable especially with the belly added to the D shaped design. The blade is gorgeous with the hammered and sand blasted design. The forged steel is very hard and sharp and stays that way for a long time.
I would recommend this to a friend!
