This Japanese crafted bread knife is a winner. The hand-hammered serrated blade glides effortless through hard bread crusts making neat clean slices. Also excellent for baked sweet breads, angel food cake, tomatoes and citrus fruit.

When I reviewed this Japanese Bread knife I knew it had some useful features that I would like. First of all the "D" shape handle is so comfortable and the "hammered" design is attractive. It was top quality in every way and like the way it lookds on my bamboo magnetic storage block.

This is a great bread knife! It not only slices through a crusty loaf of fresh bread without smashing or tearing, but it is incredibly beautiful. The hammered finish is so unique and the wooden handle with its simple curve fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. It is made from a very hard steel so it will stay sharp longer and is very durable.
It slices so cleanly that it could also be used to carve meat or slice through a large watermelon.

Both blade and wood on this knife are stunning! Love the hammered look, and this is actually functional, too! Keeps food from sticking to the blade, while the handle is curved for the best grip and comfort. Love the red and brass details against the brown rosewood pakkawood handle. I use it for our daily french breads and also for hard crust or rind veggies.

Great bread knife and the slightly smaller 9 inch length makes it handy for other tasks too such as citrus fruits and tomatoes. The serrated edge on this knife has nice long teeth that pierce the crust first and allow you to cut through without squishing the soft middle. It has a beautifu pakkawood handle and is made from SG2 steel which is strong and hard so you can be confident it will not chip or crack.

Love this knife! The blade is made from SG2 and it is definitely sharp. It will cut through the toughest of breads without a lot of force. The "D" shaped handle is very comfortable for all hands.

You can almost see the craftsmen working on these knives. The hammered steel and the shaped Cocobolo Pakkawood handle are carefully made and assembled by real people in Seki, Japan one of a handful cities in the world renown for their knife making skills.
This bread knife has all that quality and tradition built into in. AND, it slices the tenderest crumb or the crustiest crust so smoothly. The sharp scalloped serrated edge grips and slices right through without tearing. What more can you ask of a bread knife?
