As a passionate home cook, I’ve been using the Miyabi Birchwood SG2 knife for over a year now, and it’s become an essential part of my kitchen. The blade’s SG2 micro-carbide powder steel is not only incredibly sharp but also remarkably resilient. I’ve put it through countless chopping sessions, and it still glides through vegetables effortlessly.
The birchwood handle feels comfortable in my hand, and the weight distribution is spot-on. I’ve noticed that with proper care—handwashing, thorough drying, and regular honing—the knife maintains its edge beautifully. It’s like having a reliable culinary companion by my side
I have used Miyabi knives since I was first introduced to them in 2021. These knives are the finest knives I ever used, and in my past job at Sur La Table, I had access to many knives, but Miyabi are the knives I fell in love with! Long live Miyabi!!!
BTW, I own the Birchwood 8” Chef Knife and the 7” Nakiri. I plan to purchase the 9” Slicer and either the 3.5” or 5” Pairing Knives.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good knife quality. Not sure how it'll hold over time but handle is sharpness quality is phenomenal. Will have to learn how to sharpen it on a whetstone to maintain.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Incredibly beautiful knife. Factory sharpness out of the box is extreme. Excellent bevel in the handle for my right hand. Comfortable and well balanced. Looking forward to my next miyabi birchwood.
