The 5.5qt is one of the most popular sizes after the 4qt. I use this cocotte a lot too for larger gatherings when I need to feed more people. It is the perfect size for holiday braised short ribs, red wine beef stew, and is only limited by ones own imagination.

This pan is not only beautiful but cooks food to perfection. Nice heavy tight
lid with self basting spikes, keeps my roasts nice and moist, and always a ton of gravy. Worried that it wouldn't work on my induction cooktop, but it is definitely compatible. Also goes into the oven at temperatures up to 500 degrees because the knob is made from metal, not plastic which melts at high heats. Love the decorative knobs that are available to switch out.
Ordered the pig and can't wait to receive it.

I have used heavy stainless pans for years, and purchased this pot for cooking bread. I had decided to break it in though, on a stew. It was perfect, and I noticed that the cooking surface heated and browned so evenly, even to the edges of the pot. I use induction cooking, and usually have to move the chunks of meat from the center area to the edges to prevent over browning. This pot heated evenly. Also, its rather beautiful.

The is THE best quality enameled cast iron pot. Made in France and not in China. Heats food evenly and keeps it moist. So many possibilities and uses. I love Staub products now and look forward to my next purchase.
