Staub Cast Iron 24cm Dutch Oven Review

I bought this mainly to make rice, and honestly… I wish I had bought it sooner. It has quickly become one of my favorite pots in the kitchen. The heat retention is amazing. Once it heats up, it stays hot and cooks the rice very evenly. When I make Korean-style pot rice, the grains turn out fluffy and moist, and the bottom gets that perfect crispy layer. It seriously makes the rice taste better than a regular rice cooker. My husband loves rice, and every time I use this pot he says the rice tastes so good 😊 It’s now the pot I reach for most often. The lid is another thing I love. It keeps moisture inside so the food stays tender and flavorful, which makes it great not only for rice but also for stews and braised dishes. It’s also beautiful enough to bring straight to the table for serving. The only downside is the weight—it’s definitely heavy. But once you get used to it, the quality and cooking results make it totally worth it.
4-q round black round mat is my first Staub and I am so happy to write a review.
First of all, the feature is awesome. It looks very modern with my new kitchen.
Second, it works excellently.
I usually use this pot for making stew and soup. It boils very fast and keep the moisture from ingredients. Eventually, I add less water than I have usual. It is perfect size for dinner for 4.
It is easy to clean, once I clean it with warm water and dry it through heat.
Last thing is good for oven boiling. Sizzling chickens and put it right into oven and I get perfect chicken dinner.
After this purchase, I got a fry pan and a wok. They are also my favorite.
I would recommend this to a friend!

After much research, I was very excited to try this product. I purchased the black matte, 4 quart cocotte on 11-28-2016. It arrived with chips along the rim of both the lid & the pot. First replacement arrived 1 week later - same issue. Second replacement 10 days later - same result. Today, I received my FOURTH pot and it's even worse. It will be shipped back on Tuesday. If that's Staub's version of "excellent quality," I'd hate to see what they consider to be sub par. It's very disappointing to see poor workmanship being called flawless.
Used once, porcelain already started chipping. If this is Staub quality, this will be my first and last purchase. Have had much cheaper items last much longer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The lid is heavy and chipped the enamel rather deep during shipping and handling I assume. I’m not sure how to repair it. I use it because it doesn’t occur to be in contact with the steam from my cooking. It works great on my electric stove top, thank goodness. Other than the cosmetic damage, I really love how this cooks (and I cook with Kangen water). I really love the nutrient rich aroma drip design of that a Staub offers. Highly recommend. Very valuable kitchen essential.
i adore cooking with Staub enameled cast iron. the way the food self-releases after a cook is incredible. i'm far more impressed with the performance of this cookware than with Le Creuset's. i haven't had to deal with burnt food or having to suffer through ridding the cooking surface of scorched remnants even though they had indeed been cooked on med to low heat. Staub is the superior vessel.
