Sharp and Lightweight

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been looking for the best knife set which lasts long and decided to buy this beautiful 8 piece zwilling knife set which I love to work with so far in my kitchen. Comes with 5 knives, shears, sharpening steel and block. Only thing I dont like is the block has too many extra spaces for us to upgrade for later use. Doesnt look complete with empty slots. Wish I could get some small block just to fit what I have.

From a manufacturer with such a solid rep, I had hoped for a better quality product. The larger knives are nice enough, but out of the box not nearly as clean cutting and smooth as others I own. The smaller knives feel flimsy, with no real weight or balance to them. The handles on all of them are plasticy feeling and contribute to the light feel. If you had nothing, for the sale price, plus an additional coupon, it might be a good starter set. But if you’re replacing existing decent knives, as was I, consider an upgraded model. Unfortunately I was priced out of that option. They also show water stains very readily, unless hand dried. Surprisingly, I find the scissors are the thing I’m getting the most value from! Having them handy in the block, I’m rough cutting up herbs, lettuces, packaging. Go figure. Speaking of the block, though I like the way the knives lay on their sides, I wish the whole thing stood up at a more vertical angle. It takes up more real estate than the block it is replacing. Other than the scissors, it holds the same number of knives, but not laying them on their sides.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I ordered this (and steak knives) on December 1st...everything was in stock and promised to be here in a normal fashion. Your team lost my order and if I didn't call in to check on it nobody would have ever noticed it.
Then I was told that the Block set would be delivered by Dec 18th and the Steak knives I also ordered would be shipped Dec 29th. I was understanding and nice enough to accept that inconvenience.
Now I was told that both items are not going to be back in stock until January 11th...
This is the worst transaction I've ever had and I don't know how I could ever promote your products after this.
And your support team's answer to these issues was
"Unfortunately at this point there is not anything we can do"
What an embarrassment

A great set of knives. But I can only give 4 stars. Because my 8" chef's knife is awkward! I am very sad and disappointed! Maybe I expect it too high! I always think it should be the best knife brand. But I really think that the replacement is too much trouble. In fact, if this chef's knife is not flawless, I must give 5 stars! Because the other knives are perfect! Sharp, exquisite, good workmanship, good material. Even the sound of cutting vegetables has become very nice and sexy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Purchase to replace Zwilling International Knives

I am awaiting for these knives anxiously. I will replace my knife block and knives with the 8 piece knife block. Purchase was based on 1) Zwilling International knives purchased when living in Germany; 2) have a knife block able to "house" a Japanese Santouko; replace chefs & prep knife purchased 30+ years ago. I lived 3 hours from Solingen, but did not have extra money to splurge on anything except the Zwilling International line (which have been great, still have 2- one was sacriced to a pumpkin carving).
