A great set of knives. But I can only give 4 stars. Because my 8" chef's knife is awkward! I am very sad and disappointed! Maybe I expect it too high! I always think it should be the best knife brand. But I really think that the replacement is too much trouble. In fact, if this chef's knife is not flawless, I must give 5 stars! Because the other knives are perfect! Sharp, exquisite, good workmanship, good material. Even the sound of cutting vegetables has become very nice and sexy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My wife and I have been owners of JA Hinkle knives for years, and now we buy for our son, grandchildren and who knows maybe our great grandchildren. (1&3 now) or they get our set. We are a cooking family and as former restaurant owners we injoy using great cutlery.

back in 1983 I asked a friend who was a chef at a high end restaurant what knoves he recommended--he showed me his four star Henckel Chefs knife and said if you want a knife that will last I recommend Henckels. I took that recommendation seriously and the next year started to receive them as my yearly gift from my Mother. I still have them and use them everyday. I have purchased this set for a wedding gift for friends in their 20's. I know they will both use them and they will last them a lifetime. If anything does happen to them they are lifetime replacement, no questions asked. Gotta love that.

After much research we purchased these knives and we are amazed at how easy they cut through raw potatoes and carrots. It makes slicing enjoyable and not such a wrist/hand cramper. There is little area where food can get trapped into hard to clean areas of the knife..
