Upgrade on a budget

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Western Digital Blue SA510 250GB SSD attempts to balance between performance and affordability, making it a viable choice for users upgrading from traditional platter based hard drives. The drive offers a decent speed improvement over traditional drives, although it is definitely behind premium SSDs and M.2 drives in raw performance.
While there have been reports about it's reliability with some indicating failure after a few months, I have not experienced that issue personally. Build quality lacks a premium feel with the shell being made of a thin, lightweight plastic rather than a metallic alloy. Having ran it through a series of performance benchmarks, it performed adequately for it's classification. While I would personally opt for a quicker M.2 drive for my main system drive, the SA510 does make for a great option for an inexpensive storage expansion for your system or even as an external hard drive if used in combination with a 6GB capable drive enclosure.
The value for money is evident, making it a suitable option for those seeking an option that won't break the bank. While it may not cater to users requiring top-tier performance or premium build quality, the WD Blue SA510 250GB SSD remains a dependable mid-tier option for everyday computing and storage needs.

Blazing fast and quiet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have always trusted Western Digital for my hard drives and now SSDs. I'm using mine for extra external storage and fit nicely in an external case I had laying around. Windows recognized right away and quickly formatted. Left with about 232GB of usable storage after the format. This will be plenty for my needs. Write and read speeds are pretty fast. I have this connected via USB 3.0 and it doesn't miss a beat. Of course it is basically silent and the temperature remains cool even inside the external case. Looking to get many years of use and with WD, I have no doubt that I will do just that.
