I haven't really had a chance to use the generator in a real dry camp experience yet however I did run it through the break in period and it ran wonderfully. I was impressed with how quiet it ran even when under a 50 precent load
Most of the time this unit runs good. However, other times when more than one application is used on it, it chugs, bogs down and quits.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought this model to run essential items in event of power failure, e.g. furnace, pumps, etc. Have only tested it for a total of 6-8 hours to break it in. Added oil and gas and it started immediately with a push of the starter button and every other time I restarted it. Seems well constructed, runs smoothly and quietly. It is compact, fold-out handle is convenient, as is the design that incorporates 2 grip bars molded into the body. The feature that disconnects the battery after sitting for awhile will save troubles with a dead battery - just remember to push the button to reset it next time you want to start it. Very satisfied at this point.
I originally wanted the "Red" brand inverter, however I decided to take a chance on the Firman due to its lower price, fantastic warranty, longer features list, and greater capacity for the price. So far I have not been disappointed. I only have 8 hours on the machine so far, however during the break-in period (first 6 hours) it ran flawlessly. My break-in procedure was as follows, however following the directions in the user manual should be fine. 1st hour, no load-eco throttle on (low RPM) 2nd hour, no load-eco throttle off (high RPM) Full overnight Cold Soak. Hours 3-4, varying load, up to 50%, eco throttle off (high RPM) Hours 5-6, varying load, up to 90%, eco throttle on (RPM varies based on applied load) My only recommendation would be to change the oil after the initial 6 hours rather than after the first 20. After the break-in process described above, the oil was significantly darker, however the what concerned me was the 'glitter' suspended in the oil. I wouldn't want to leave that oil in there for another 14 hours with those particles in there. I'm not sure what that means for the longevity of the engine, however with the three year warranty, I have lots of time to figure that out.
Pros: Decent looks., Manageable weight for most., Quiet and fuel efficient at light loads, Remote start/stop, Warranty
Cons: Considerably louder/less efficient at high loads
I use it for charging my batteries when needed ,and when I have to use microwave or other larger kitchen appliances, don't like the 12 hour battery saver system , so far I'm happy with the purchase, have only use it a couple time as I have another remote start generator ,this one is a backup one for now ,
Pros: Very nice generator, starts easy ,good on gas
Love the remote start and it has cut down on amount of fuel we use.... it's also quiet ... returned Champion generator and bought this one... very wise decision
