Don’t Buy Samsung 70” TV- it’s from the 1990s

I wanted a slightly larger TV so I thought I was “upgrading” from my previous 55” TCL to the 70” Samsung- wrong! The Samsung picture is fine, maybe a little better than my 5-year old TCL, but the interface is AWFUL and so is the remote, which apparently cannot be upgraded in any meaningful way. The Home Screen is overly complicated and won’t take you to your recently watched nor will it easily let you add apps or channels, and once you add them you can’t see them on the Home Screen. The Samsung assumes you want to control the TV with your phone and therefore assumes that only the phone-owner will want to control the TV. The remote seems like it’s from 1990s and has no microphone capability, meaning you have to type in every letter on screen to search for a title or channel, like in the 1990s. If you want to type a search in easier you have to do it on your phone through Samsung’s clunky app. Hate this TV.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We appreciate your opinion on the DU7200 TV and have a few recommendations that may improve your experience.

First, you can choose what your TV does when you turn it on by going to Settings > All Settings> General > Smart Features.

When you set Autorun Smart Hub to be on, the TV displays the Home Screen automatically when you turn the TV on.

If Autorun Last App is set to on, the last used app automatically runs when you turn on the TV. You can turn this function on or off.

Next, to add apps to your Home Screen go to Home> Apps> Long Click on app of choice and select Add to Home Screen.

I bought this a month ago and totally disappointed
No way of downloading apps i want only what’s on the tv, no Samsung tv plus, its only for the older models
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Please know that the DU7200 TV does offer Samsung TV Plus and it has a built-in app store with hundreds of apps available for download.

To access Samsung TV Plus, go to Home> Samsung TV Plus or press the Samsung TV Plus button on your remote control.

To download apps, go to Home> left cursor> Search Icon and search for any apps you wish to download that are not pre-loaded.

Just what I expected.

So far, this TV has met all my expectations. The quality of the screen and sound is much better than my previous Samsung HD Tv. The Samsung streaming device installed in the TV is a nice addition, although not as easy to use as my Amazon Fire Stick. Overall I'm very pleased.

Solid choice for the price

I bought this television for my husband for a Christmas gift. The first one lasted about two weeks before it developed a band of black and white static about 8 inches wide down the righthand side of the screen. Samsung was very responsive and replaced the defective television quickly. He's very happy with it and so far, so good. I'm hoping this was just a blip and not a common occurrence. The picture is very nice. It was easy to connect to our streaming services.
