A little heavy, but picks up stuff well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The vacuum does well on my thick carpet, and the attachments go on quickly. It is a little on the heavy side and even though it swivels can be a little hard to maneuver. Assembly was really simple, just a couple clicks. If it had a retractable cord I'd give it another star, but at least the part that holds the cord swivels for easy removal.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Solid vacuum cleaner

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am impressed with this vacuum and honestly, I hadn't expected to be since I was coming from a Dyson. It glides across the carpet easily and swivels as needed without feeling out of control. It's got some major power; even when I have the hose out in use ur still has some much suction I accidentally sucked up the cord! I learned the hard way to make sure I'm utilizing the handy clips on the vacuum that keep the cord safely or of the war while I'm utilizing the hose. I like the hose attachments a lot; you can use them in combination with each other to reach the edges and corners of normal 8 for height ceiling which is handy. Also, it has a hose attachment that is small enough to actually fit in those little, nearly impossible to vacuum cracks in between your car seats! It doesn't extend to the height of the Dyson nor have all the attachments that I love, like the car vacuum head or flat under furniture attachments, but at nearly $300 cheaper it still seems to have about the same amount of great suction power and easy to clean filters, so I'm highly impressed and would definitely recommend this vacuum!

The Hoover Elite Swivel Upright Vacuum handles even the hairiest of carpets! The compact and easy to use hose attachments, such as the brush tool, make cleaning upholstery and deep crevasses a breeze! I know plenty of other pet owners that need this vacuum and will definitely be telling them about it!

Okay But Improvements Needed to be Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this vacuum to try on my different floors. I have laminate wood, carpet, tile and rugs in my home. The vacuum does a decent job on most of these surfaces but some improvements are needed to make this a great product. I first noticed this does not have an onboard light at the front. I really missed this because we have a lot of trees around the house and it can be pretty dark. I had to turn on all the lights to make sure I didn't vacuum anything up accidently. Not a big deal but something to keep in mind. I noticed this vacuum seems pretty loud. I actually wore ear plugs while vacuuming because of the noise. Something to keep in mind if you are sensitive to noise. Another feature that could be improved is the knob to change between different floors is all the way down at the bottom of the vacuum. I feel this would be a lot more convenient if it was closer to the handle. I you have multiple types of floors, like I do, this gets annoying. I wasn't able to use this on my stairs because the hose is too short to reach all the stairs and I didn't want to balance the vacuum on each step. So although it has a few different attachments, they weren't useful to me on the stairs. When you place the vacuum in the upright position while it is running, the brushes/roller keeps moving. This is something that isn't good for wood or laminate floors at all. It would be helpful if they stopped moving when in that position. One last thing that needs improvement and what I have attached in the photo. The bottom of the vacuum slopes up so it is impossible to run the vacuum parallel to cabinets. I was able to run the vacuum perpendicular to the cabinets and furniture but the back was too tall to fit under going parallel. Again, not a huge deal but definitely takes more time to vacuum. The vacuum is easy to move on hard surfaces and pretty easy on carpets. On rugs it scooted my rugs all over the place which is annoying. I felt that it did a pretty good job cleaning but did have a hard time picking up the lightweight kitty litter. I like how big the canister is and it is easy to remove. The canister holds a lot, more than other vacuums I think. Sometimes debris would get stuck at the top and then you have to open the top part of the canister. That requires an additional step and needs to be lined up properly to be put back together. This could be a nice vacuum if some things are improved. It would also work well in a home without stairs and few to no different surfaces.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great for hardwood and carpets but its loud.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great vacuum for hardwood and carpeted floors. I like that there is a dial to adjust to different lengths of carpet and hardwood flooring. I also like how easy it is to empty the cannister, since it empties from the bottom. I did not like though how loud and kind of bulky this vacuum was. Its hard getting into corners and the attachment hose is a bit too short. Other then that its a great vacuum and the I find all the attachments very useful.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Hoover Elite fro Hoover/BzzAgent to test. I purchased a Dyson Animal 2 about 6 months ago so I used it as my comparison. The Hoover Elite was much easier to assemble, just pull out of the box and snap in the handle. We have 2 short haired dogs in the house so we collect dust and dog hair quickly and have to vacuum regularly. The first use of the Hoover Elite was just straight out of the box and vacuumed the living room carpet. It was very light and easy to adjust to the height of our carpet. First impression was "wow, that picked up a lot of dog hair!" After rthe first use I wanted to really test it versus our Dyson Animal 2. So i suppressed my urge to vacuum our living room carpet for 2 weeks and compared them head to head. I ensured that the Hoover canister was completely empty, even wiped it out with a paper towel. So I then vacuumed the entire living room with our Dyson Animal 2 and then immediately vacuumed it with the Hoover elite being sure to vacuum in the same direction as the Dyson. The Hoover still picked up a lot of dust/dirt and pet hair out of the carpet after the Dyson. Needless to say I was impressed. I won't completely give the win to the Hoover yet due to I would like to see how they compare 6 months to a year down the road but for first impressions it's a win. So at this point I'm going to give the Hoover 3 wins. Ease of Assembly - Hoover win Price Point - Hoover win Cleaning Power (first impression) - Hoover win So far it stands as Hoover 3, Dyson 0
