This carpet cleaner was delivered a couple of days ago and I have taken a little time to read over the instructions thoroughly, because this cleaner operates somewhat differently than the other 4 carpet cleaners I have owned. I used it for the first time today and "WOW!" I am so impressed! It cleaned my carpets better than ever before with previously owned cleaners (and my carpet is old). The water extraction is exceptional. Not only does it do a great job cleaning, but the machine is so easy to clean all the machine parts, too! The automatic mixing of the clean water and cleaning solution is great, because there is no waste as there was in other machines. With the old machines, when I had mixed cleaning solution left, I had to throw it out, wasting the cleaning solution, but no more!

Well, I've had a number of carpet cleaners through the years and this is the best one yet. It looks like Hoover really did put the engineering staff to work and they addressed every single problem I've ever had with carpet cleaners through the years and fixed it with this model. There are so many things right with this carpet cleaner they are almost too numerous to mention. Start with the two-large separately driven roller brushes and the ease of taking the front works apart and cleaning it after use; the long power cord; the separately stowed hand cleaning brushes and hose; the ease of emptying the waste water tank and filling the fresh water tank. The separate solution tank is great; plus the machine doesn't throw down copious amounts of suds or water. Did I mention it cleans carpet great !!!! It sucks up almost everything it puts down. Everybody knows it's not about how much water you can lay down- it's about how much you can pick up and this one does a fine job of that. After an hour the carpet was almost ready to use. When you want to empty the tanks just tip them upside down; no more wild gyrations with tilting and shaking the tanks to get them emptied. So - I guess you could say I like the SMARTWASH a lot.

cleans great but had an issue

So I have owned this product for about 2 years now and for the most part I love how it works .Having owned 3 other hoover carpet cleaners over the past 25 years as well as 2 bissels, I know what features I like and don't like in a carpet cleaner. This one was a little pricier at the time ( I purchased it right after they came out)but I thought I'd give it a try. I love the fact that this one doesnt have a trigger, that you can set it to dry only, that I can see the water being sucked up and that the dirty water tank is easy to empty. The only problem I have had with it is three months after I bought it the clean water tank started leaking very badly. On close inspection I noticed the rubber o-ring inside the bottom of the tank where the little plunger is, had come off. The way the tank is made, there is absolutely no way to put it back on ( and I tried every way I could think of) The tank is not covered under the warranty, even though technically this is a manufacture defect since it's inside of the tank and there is no way to access it and the plunger only works when you are pushing it forward in wash mode, unlike a machine with a trigger that you are constantly pulling. Called hoover they said I had to order and pay for a whole new water tank from hoover. .. two interesting things here 1)the fact that hoover has a replacement tank for this machine and 2) the new tank has a different kind of set up in the bottom of it than the old one. Which makes me think that maybe hoover knew about the o-rings coming off on their original designs. But it is what it is and since replacing it I have had no more problems with it. Quality wise it is a good machine. . Now if hoover could make a machine with the little round scrubbing brushes like the powerscrub elite, with the trigger less feature of this machine as well as being able to see the water being sucked up like this machine, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But for now I will continue to use this one.

I bought this machine not even 1 year ago and it isn't working! I literally used this machine once and it worked at that time but while using it today well!!! The front brush isn't spinning at all and making a weird noise.

I have had my Hoover carpet cleaner for 3 weeks now and it is by far the best I've ever tried!!! It was a little pricey but I have four dogs and three boys so I needed a good carpet cleaner that would get the job done and me not have to call a cleaner service to do so. Let me tell you, it was worth every single penny! And it's so simple. Just push to clean and pull back to dry!! And it dispenses the right amount of solution so no more measuring this or measuring that!

I bought this on 29 March and has the worst section of a carpet cleaner that I've ever owned I have another Hoover it's an older brand which I have to get out to suck the water out of the carpet because the smart wash has no suction whatsoever I believe it's due to the light weight on the front not pushing on the carpet hard enough I would not recommend
