I bought this last month and used it for 6 rooms of carpeted floors (1 room at a time over 6 days. My carpet is 23 years old so it couldn't be restored to like new condition, but they were cleaned like new with little effort. There are so many things I like about this machine and very few that I had concerns about. At my age (75) it felt heavy, but that's to be expected when you weigh 100 1lbs. I'm glad I bought this machine when I did. It cleaned better than the carpet service that I've used in the past and save me money in the long run. Worth the price.

This one cleans my carpet really well. I was very happy with how clean it got my carpet, but I have a few complaints. I wish I would have tried it in time to exchange it for another one. 1) it leaves globs of dirt while you are cleaning the carpet instead of keeping all of it in the dirty water container. I had to stop a lot of times to remove the globs of dirt. 2) even though it dries as you pull the cleaner backwards, it recommends to dry the carpet after cleaning, rinse & then dry again. I wish the dry part was only 1X instead of 2X. It seems to me a lot more steps than what it should be. 3) I wish the cleaning solution tank was bigger. I had to add more solution 3X.

I owned the Rug Doctor and sold it because I got the new Hoover Smart Wash. The Hoover Smart Wash extracted more water than the Rug Doctor making it dry much faster. The easy clean feature is awesome. Front head comes off so easy to flush clean water through it and beater bars detach so they are also easy to clean. Hoover has stepped up their goal and made a much better Rug Shampooer than before. Love it!
