The window assembly for this product is too complicated to install and the installation process is not straightforward for me. I ended up pushing the unit into the closet of the room with a blanket draped over it to keep the dust off of it and I put the assortment of plastic parts that would fit inside a shoebox inside the shoebox for safekeeping. I ended up diagnosing the problem on my old portable air conditioner to what I believe to be an airflow restriction and I purchased a new window installation kit for the old unit and I am going to take another corrective measure this summer to correct that problem with that old unit. I am still holding onto my new Midea unit for when my old portable air conditioner gives out but I sure hope that I will never have to use it any time soon because of how hard it would be for me to put the window installation kit that it came with in the window. I also ordered a WIFI IR emitter for the old portable air conditioner so that I can still control it from anywhere in the states but I can't say that I would recommend this product because of how complicated the window installation kit is. I have enough things in my life to figure out and take care of and this just does not need to be one of them. I am currently very disappointed with this portable air conditioner.

After 3 years our unit has stopped cooling. It’s just an overly large fan now. The timing is great because we’re having a bit of a heat wave this weekend. It did work great up until it didn’t.

Poor drainage

Runs for a half hour and then shuts off because the tank that holds the water is only 4 cups. You have to empty the water every 15 to 20 minutes. I had to buy a hose and attach a hose to the bottom.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Midea Duo: The Hype Melts Fast Scam or bad luck?

After extensive research, I selected the Midea Duo to cool a well-insulated 176 sq. ft. room — far below its advertised 500 sq. ft. capacity. Unfortunately, it’s failed from day one. Despite being set to 69°F, the room has stayed stubbornly at 80°F for three consecutive days and nights. This room is fully insulated, airtight, and typically the most climate-stable in the home.
The dual-hose window port was installed exactly as instructed — snug fit, tight seal, and aligned with the top section of the window panel. Yet, I feel significant heat radiating from the plastic port connection, and air leaks are clearly present. For a premium unit, this design flaw is unacceptable. That hose connection is the weak point — allowing outside heat in, undermining performance.
Worse, I’ve repeatedly encountered Error Code 54. While Midea support helped initially, their workaround no longer works. The unit now runs continuously without cooling, racking up energy costs and offering no comfort.
Side note, it does heat well…. During summer temps. 😒
This unit was supposed to relieve us from Texas summer heat after over six weeks with no air conditioning. Instead, it’s nearly as useless as the broken system it was meant to replace. And that flaw in the dual-hose design should not be enough to hinder a unit built to cool a room nearly three times the size. Unless Midea steps in with a real solution — refund, redesign, or replacement — this stays a 1-star review.

Worked for 1 season, then the EL-OC error came up 2 months after warranty expired. Midea could not help in any way besides directing me to their "repair" specialist. Very unfortunate

Non-servicable based on the lack of any support documentation. Now a hulking pile of electronic waste that I have to deal with.
