I knowni definitely can! I love to sew, anything and everything, nothing is off limits. I don't understand why people say "There are no attachments" because there are plenty of feet, which for me helps. I just bought mine, I did have a few issues with it locking up, but that was due to my improper threading of the bobbin. After I fixed the issue, I haven't stopped sewing since I got it! So many features, and types of stitches, I couldn't ask for a better machine!

To use a phrase from a very wise man this thing is a piece of junk. I bought the Singer Sew Mate 5400 for my daughter as a gift. She was able to use it around 4 to 5 times without any problems. Then she started having problems with the needle breaking constantly. Then the thread started breaking. She was constantly getting code C4. My mom who is 89 years old and who has been sewing on a singer machine for the majority of her life was unable to help figure out the issue. The manuals are no help. I called the help center today and was told that there was nothing that they could really do for me. They did say that they could help me clear out the codes that were showing up on the machine. The lady walked me through the process to clear that but that was the extent of the support that I got. I was told that if I still have the receipt that I could send it to the repair center at my cost which is approximately 175 miles away from me and they would repair it and send it back to me. I was also told that without a receipt that there was nothing that could be done unless I wanted to pay for this machine to be repaired out of my pocket. I informed the lady that I should have read the reviews online before I bought this machine because it showed that there was a lot of C4 code issues as well as needle breaking issue. I was informing her that I would be also putting a review on a website and she hung up on me. I called back to talk to a supervisor and was told that the supervisor was on another line. I informed them that I would like to hold and they told me that they could not leave me on hold that they would have to send me to the voicemail of that supervisor. Extremely horrible customer service and an extremely terrible product would not ever recommend to anyone again including my mom who still sews quite a bit at her age. She is also needing a new machine and I will not be buying her a singer even though that's what she has used most of her life.

The sewing machine arrived sooner than expected and was easy to set up by watching Singer's YouTube tutorials. It had been years since I had done any sewing and this machine made jumping back in easy.

Couldn't get machine to sew easily; bobbin hard to install, needle kept breaking and stop and start to many times to fix issues. Still haven't figured out what isn't correct. I have been asking for a return authorization before I even opened and tried machine ( I ordered model 4423 before the sew Mate and I love it) I tried the sew Mate for my granddaughter but I couldn't give it to her because I had too much trouble sewing.

Sews fine, but disappointed that it is so noisey - sounds very mechanical. My last sewing machine was about 30 years old and I was very surprised to find that the new one was not much better than the old one, other than having additional fancy stitches that I could program in. guess you get what you pay for
